One of my first Naim label downloads, a lovely album somewhere between jazz, classical and latin on acoustic guitar with the lightest of support from the band.

Ruins, fuzzy rock with a folk edge to it. Good stuff...

I had an e-mail promo yesterday from Linn on this one; they say its was recorded & mastered at 24/192 & that's what I bought, Linn sell it in .flac (or .alac) & as always I convert to .wav.

Claire Martin is one of the world's best jazz vocalist & as I already have some of her albums, no hesitation. She teams up with Richard Rodney Bennett the film-music composer & jazz pianist/singer & between them they have made an album that gives a mix of everything on the emotions list, romance, poignant, goose bumps, smooth, soothe, comedy & relax. The emotion comes from her phasing & timing, but that voice, what a gift, effortless, natural, crystal clear diction & tonal accuracy. The quality of voice & piano is stunning & the recording atmosphere is natural with nothing added or filtered. Its a new must have for me & I'm wondering how I've missed it before.

The Bad Plus. On this album they play covers, such as 'Don't dream it's over'  and 'Time after Time'. This is not the most accessible jazz music. I don't know how you would describe this style of playing. I wouldn't want to listen to this every day. But once in a while it's a enjoyable listen.

Very very audiophile, and recommended....

Something from the chemist/drug store and a couple of anonymous LPs?

There a lot of good recordings of the Brandenburg Concertos. This is certainly one them. Jeanne Lamon really makes the concertos 'sparkle'.

Also, the sound quality is very good of this recording.

As with ELP, I've never really managed to connect that well with Rush.  I think I need to give them some more effort, although I fear it may take my own playing down some undesirable bunny hole.

Not their most accessible album but a few plays and the music starts to get pleasantly under the skin.

Blechacz applies a strong filter to Bach - this is modern romantic playing of the kind I was introduced to by David Fray. He never goes as far as Martin Stadtfeld or, in a very diiferent direction, Alexandre Tharaud, but equally, we're far from the sparse approach of Ashkenazy. Perahia's recent French suites aren't far away. Great disc!

Dinky Flop's Meddle, on MFSL vinyl. Not heard this one for a while but not sure if it's as good as my 1970s Japanese pressing...

This is a brilliant modern folk album, available on CD or as a high res download on Bandcamp, which is where we got it.
