Have you preordered the album yet Tony?
Yes, Kev. Did it on the river the day it was announced. They will probably release a box set as well.
Really looking forward to it after seeing this video. Sounds very promising indeed, once again reinventing herself.
Ronnie Laws - Every Generation
Because it is jazz funkery of the highest order. Probably appreciated by jazz funk aficionados only though. Boy this one takes me back.
Its on Tidal if you want to give it a whirl.
1981 - Vinyl - Uk first pressing...
There is a nine album box set of Andras Schiff's Beethoven albums that was re-released recently at a reasonable price. This is the first volume. Wonderful.
Mike-B posted:I had an e-mail promo yesterday from Linn on this one; they say its was recorded & mastered at 24/192 & that's what I bought, Linn sell it in .flac (or .alac) & as always I convert to .wav.
Claire Martin is one of the world's best jazz vocalist & as I already have some of her albums, no hesitation. She teams up with Richard Rodney Bennett the film-music composer & jazz pianist/singer & between them they have made an album that gives a mix of everything on the emotions list, romance, poignant, goose bumps, smooth, soothe, comedy & relax. The emotion comes from her phasing & timing, but that voice, what a gift, effortless, natural, crystal clear diction & tonal accuracy. The quality of voice & piano is stunning & the recording atmosphere is natural with nothing added or filtered. Its a new must have for me & I'm wondering how I've missed it before.
There are two more albums with Claire and RRB, both of which are excellent. Collect the set!
Almost a Pat Metheny album....

Thanks fr the tip, I'm already on it. I'm just surprised that with six other CM albums I've overlooked these.
I assume you have Too Much in Love to Care, with Kenny Barron, which is one of my favourites?

Yes & its getting played right now.

Is that good or bad? Pat Metheney does nothing for me, other than his recordings of Steve Reich.

What about Time and Place, with string quartet?
And We've Got a World that Swings, with the wonderful Ray Gelato? We saw them together at Chichester Festival Theatre - absolutely fantastic.
Eri Ohno and The Great Jazz Trio - Eri Sings Cole Porter, 1984. A now rare Japanese vinyl pressing. The CD version does not hold a candle to the LP for fidelity even though it was a digital recording.
Tracy Chapman on Radio 2. I put a flatcap XS on my NAT05XS last week and this is the first chance I''ve had to have a proper listen. It sounds damned good!

Not got this one, but do have "Time & Place" ....... its nice but it took a while to get my head around the string quartet sound thats so different to her normal accompaniment. 'She's Leaving Home' is a bit special.
Off you go then...

Brilliant album, Tony. I too have a first pressing as well as the CD, which I bougt so that I wouldn't wear out the vinyl copy!
First play for me. Doesn't stray too far from the usual formula which is not a bad thing
The XX - I See You
I Am The Morning, Lighthouse on CD.
Simply enchanting.
Sister Tharpe plays a wonderful mix of blues and gospel .. She is a hell of a guitarist too .. This 2CD set is the best of her best known period 1938 - 1948 .. she arranged most of her own songs .. did I mention she is a hell of a guitar player ?

I would say Pat is not a mere guest, he dominates the sound. As such it works well, while it's not my best one with Pat....
Bjorn Riis, Lullabies In A Car Crash, WAV Cd Rip.
Flicking through the Albums list on the Naim App and this is the one that stood up and said "Play Me!"

Not just Alison Tony - don't forget wondrous Will!
