What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Having a great Roger Waters afternoon
The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking
Amused to Death
More Ohio Players: this time Fire (remarkably, the third brilliant album they released in 1974! ), on 1980s pre-barcode vinyl. They don't make covers like this any more. Sigh...
Prior to going back to Gong:
A diversion over to Emily Barker before heading onto Kandace Springs
Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo - Dear River
Listened this afternoon to Gregory Porter. A recording of a live concert. I think this is his best CD available. In this performance he is backed by piano, sax, bass and drums. This makes it more jazz than on his other CD's.
Now listening to the soundtrack of this great movie. It's a nice selection (by Clint Eastwood) of songs from Johnny Hartman, Dinah Washintgon and Irene Krall.

Interesting - just had a quick listen to this and liked what i heard so placed an order. Thanks Matt
Dreadzone - Dread Times
The new Dreadzone, ripped from CD. More Roots Reggae than their very early Dub House style, this is probably their strongest album since Sound and that's saying something. The lead video isn't the strongest by a long way.
Continuing the "funky Sunday" theme, here's a Blue Note compilation from the early 90s of some knockout Hammond organ tracks from the esteemed label's vast back catalogue. UK double vinyl:
A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step.
Stumbled across this earlier today .......... a beautiful haunting album, well worth a listen ......... on Tidal.
A + | Tidal
(2011)
Some more of the lady's blues voice, this time with JB.

One of their best and the live version is worth checking out too.
Slightly too early for Kandace so this is getting a play instead.
Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree

Cued up next on Tidal ............. how did I manage to miss these?
Still, better late than never.
Ain't Tidal a wunnerful thingy?
From last year's The Early Years mega-box, the first volume, Cambridge Sta/tion. Early recordings from 1965, and Syd in his pomp, on one CD; the second CD contains a remarkable 1967 concert in Stockholm, plus the most outré recordings the Floyd ever did, for a soundtrack to an abandoned film by the artist John Latham. Some will quibble about stuff left out, and the sound is a bit trebly, but there is some remarkable music (and on the DVD/Blu-ray, visuals) here.

I hope you enjoy the album as I much as I do.
Guilty pleasure time. All that money spent on Hi-Fi etc
Boney M - The Magic Of Boney M
1970 - Tidal...
Should really track down a good original copy of this on vinyl.
There's a great version of Neil Young's Down By The River.

As it happens I have the CD and the 96/24 download of Rumours and must admit I am a little disappointed with the SQ. I had always assumed that the master must have been less than perfect, but if the vinyl sounds good then it would appear the transfer to digital was not optimal.
Love the album though.
Funnily enough, I too have both the vinyl and a recent remastered version on CD (a double CD set, which includes the additional Stevie Nicks track and studio demos) and have found the CD ripped to NS01 (WAV) and streamed through NDS to sound better than the vinyl. But then my vinyl copy has always sounded a bit crackly. I'll give it a clean and have another go.
If that's the double set which has the extra song Silver Springs slotted in at track 7, I have it too. I've found the reproduction quality of this a very nice improvement over my original Rumours CD.
Curiously I entered the discussion of Rumours about 10 mins after plopping Tango In The Night into the CD player. This album is right up with Rumours IMV

That's the one. Haven't listened to it today, but will do later in the week. May even do a true back to back trial with the vinyl.
Actually, Silver Springs is quite likeable, and I can understand why SN was disappointed that it didn't make it onto the original release.
