Here's a guilty pleasure from me - Yes. This is possibly my least played album from the classic period (by which I mean up to 'Going for the One'), but I don't know why since it's a jolly fine album. Thankfully, Steven Wilson hasn't been anywhere near this version.

Fleetwood Mac. Rumours. The original LP from 1977. Finishing off a splendid night of dedicated vinyl listening with this classic. I've never heard a digital version of this album and have no interest to do so.

As it happens I have the CD and the 96/24 download of Rumours and must admit I am a little disappointed with the SQ. I had always assumed that the master must have been less than perfect, but if the vinyl sounds good then it would appear the transfer to digital was not optimal.

Love the album though.

Funnily enough, I too have both the vinyl and a recent remastered version on CD (a double CD set, which includes the additional Stevie Nicks track and studio demos) and have found the CD ripped to NS01 (WAV) and streamed through NDS to sound better than the vinyl. But then my vinyl copy has always sounded a bit crackly. I'll give it a clean and have another go.

If that's the double set which has the extra song Silver Springs slotted in at track 7, I have it too.  I've found the reproduction quality of this a very nice improvement over my original Rumours CD.

That's the one. Haven't listened to it today, but will do later in the week. May even do a true back to back trial with the vinyl.

Actually, Silver Springs is quite likeable, and I can understand why SN was disappointed that it didn't make it onto the original release.

I'll be interested to learn of your conclusions, Clive.

Curiously I entered the discussion of Rumours about 10 mins after plopping Tango In The Night into the CD player. This album is right up with Rumours IMV

Not played this album for ages. One to play tonight

And I thought I was the only one who thought his remixes were extremely overrated and  sucked big time!

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step.

Stumbled across this earlier today .......... a beautiful haunting album, well worth a listen ......... on Tidal.

One of their best and the live version is worth checking out too.

Cued up next on Tidal ............. how did I manage to miss these?

Still, better late than never.

Ain't Tidal a wunnerful thingy?

As you're enjoying these Dave follow the trail of Maynard James Keenan who is the  man behind A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Tool all of which are really good bands IMO

From last year's The Early Years mega-box, the first volume, Cambridge Sta/tion. Early recordings from 1965, and Syd in his pomp, on one CD; the second CD contains a remarkable 1967 concert in Stockholm, plus the most outré recordings the Floyd ever did, for a soundtrack to an abandoned film by the artist John Latham. Some will quibble about stuff left out, and the sound is a bit trebly, but there is some remarkable music (and on the DVD/Blu-ray, visuals) here.

I'm taking my time, leisurely strolling through the box in order, CDs first, Blu-Rays to be savoured later. At this moment I'm listening to the Live In Pompeii CD (a bonus!).

I'd agree that the Cambridge stuff sounds a bit too trebly, but am pleased by the ret of the stuff, especially the quality of the BBC archives. And I thought the 2016 remix of Obscured was like viewing an old master with its patina of time cleaned away.

All in all, it's just reinforcing how much I loved this period of Floyd, starting with those early sounds that washed away any firm footing I thought I had in what music was all about, and continuing through their development into different soundworlds. The ones they took me with them.

Mind you, the box is a pain in the arse!

First time I really have a listen to it. In a way it doesn't impress, but on the other side it keeps me dragging into the content.....varied, and good...

(2011)

Speaking of Puscifer this is one of their best and its time to give it a run out again.

As I was returning my Tango In The Night CD to the rack, this stared out at me from among the 'Fs' saying, come on, you haven't played me for ages.       Oh , I wept!

One of my very few downloaded albums, in high-def, fed into my nDAC via USB.  Sounds good.

200g audiophile clear vinyl, original pressing. Mastered by Sean McGee at Abbey Road. Not only the best album I own, but also the best-sounding.

I can only assume that your account has been hacked Kevin.  Have you got a twelve year old daughter by any chance?

So good that it's getting another play (sorry Kandace) before bed.

One to sit back, turn up the volume and just let the music wash over you.
