What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Arvo Pärt - Creator Spiritus
This is a mainly choral album, with some string accompaniment. The music's sublime and the recording just wonderful (here in 24/88.2 download). This is a Harmonia Mundi release conducted by Paul Hillier and it was fortunate that it only had one piece I already had - luckily one of my favourites: My Heart's In The Highlands, because I'd have bought it anyway for the main piece - Stabat Mater for choir and strings.
And here is My Heart's In The Highlands. Remarkable in that it has no tune as such - the singer, Else Torp, has only one note (accompanied by organ) - but it manages to be astonishingly expressive.
I stumbled on this CD by accident when I was browsing through the Naxos promotion on Qobuz.
It's jazz(y) music composed by Claude Bolling in the 1970s. I had never heard of Claude Bolling. Very enjoyable to listen to.
If you enjoy classical guitar, Naxos has some excellent sounding CDs. The engineer, Norbert Kraft, is a guitarist himself and he takes full advantage of the recording venue.
Taking time to try out Country music some more. Simple stuff very well done. Never in my wildest teenage dreams would I have imagined enjoying this sort of stuff, but this is terrific.

Simon Posford (Shpongle and Hallucinogen) had yet another project with Younger Brother and to my ears this trance style psychedelic electronica still sounds good and fresh today.
Vicente amigo. Un momento en el sonido. Can almost smell the hot wood.
One from earlier this afternoon.
Paolo Nutini - Caustic Love.
Jock funk 'n soul ...... whatever next?
Seriously though, this is one fine album. IMHO.
Another one from earlier.
Sunderland funk ....... what's going on?
Again, a fine album from the Brewis brothers, in fact, this was one of my albums of 2016.
It's available on Tidal, so do have a listen.
On CD:-
Marika Hackman - We Slept At Last
One track from this upcoming release available on Tidal.
Might as well stick with Mr Clark Jr. for now
Kevin Mahogany: 'Double Rainbow'. With Kenny Barron on piano and Ralph Moore on Sax.

Dayjay, prompted by your post, I have just stuck this on the old NDS (I know you can't stick a file on but you know what I mean) and am reminded what a fine album this is and how talented our Joan is. You are right it still sounds fresh and what a great recording. Takes me back to my Uni days but now I can actually hear the lyrics instead of guess them. Funny hearing the real lyrics and compare to what you used to think they were!

Superb album Tobyjug such a shame that she left it there (with Fever Ray) and has not gone on further with the solo career.
