Thin Lizzy - The Very Best Of.

Sometimes you just have to abandon the quest, and just play the familiar stuff that you know to be good.

AC / DC - The Razor's Edge.

Carrying on from my last post, isn't "Thunderstruck " the track that we all turn the volume up several notches?

Or is that just me?

Rock on.

1967

As whim would have it, I had a yen to hear Arthur Conley's Sweet Soul Music. So off it tapped to my singles folders, where several years ago I digitised my favourite singles from across the years, each folder by year. So after playing Arthur, I tapped out a short playlist for the evening from 1967, eschewing the biggies on the whole but generally wallowing in being 14 or 15 again, so excuse the indulgence...

Arthur Conley - Sweet Soul Music

Eric Burdon & The Animals - When I Was Young

Nashville Teens - Biggest Night Of Her Life

Diana Ross & The Supremes - Reflections

Lovin' Spoonful - She's Still A Mystery

Eric Burdon & The Animals - San Franciscan Nights

The Who - Pictures Of Lily

Virgin Sleep - Love

The Hollies - King Midas In Reverse

Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense And Peppermints

The Happenings - I Got Rhythm (very Four Seasons)

Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - Honey Chile

Gary Lewis & The Playboys - Girls In Love

Brenton Wood - Gimme Little Sign

Simon & Garfunkel - Fakin' It

John Fred & His Playboy Band - Agnes English

The Nice - The Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack

Linda Ronstadt - Different Drum (wonderful Mike Nesmith song...and no wonder Philip Dick fell under her spell)

The Easybeats - The Music Goes Round My Head (the fast version, from a Spanish 45)

Ah, the joys of streaming. It took me about six months to rip the best of my singles on a Pioneer CDR machine, painfully getting levels and cueing, just like the old cassette days, little suspecting I would be able to stream most of these ten years later without the hassle.

Bad Company. Run With The Pack. On original vinyl from 1976. The band's third album. All these years later I still think their debut album was their best.

The Band. Stage Fright. On original lime green label Capitol vinyl from 1970, Bob Ludwig master. The Band had a simple funky groove. Easy to relax to while at the same time gets the toe tapping.

The Band. Eponymous second album from 1969. Another lime green original issue LP. These early Band album had pretty heavily compressed bass for their time.
