2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Simon, thanks for reminding me about him and this one, I've put it into a Tidal playlist to try later on this evening.

Hi BigH47,
Progressive rock would be as good a description as any. They are a Polish band that have been around since the early 90's. Plenty of Marillion/Genesis influence. I think they are a very talented bunch. Katarzyna Sobkowicz the Female vocalist is fantastic to these ears. Tidal have all the albums I have posted.
All the best, Simon.
Thanks for that Simon, BigH beat me to asking the question earlier, I'll be giving them a go.

well worth a look. I picked up on Albion from an earlier recommendation & very glad that I did. The beauty of this forum; a reminder of some old favourites that need revising as well as new discoveries....
During workout...
Linda Ronstadt. Greatest Hits. On original vinyl from 1976. Ending my evening with my third-in-a-row greatest hits LP from the mid-70s. All outstanding SQ from vinyl's heyday.
Excellent sound quality.
Rush, Moving Pictures, original vinyl and Rush at their very best imho. Such a shame that they didn't maintain this quality of production because the sq is fantastic
Ancient vinyl
Why? Time for some relaxing Friday pm listening.

Wilco - Being There. Not an album I've played a great deal, but certainly enjoying it at the moment. CD rip.
This is a beautiful album & it sounds gorgeous.

Someone on here, some time ago, pointed me to an article on how they got that drum sound , interesting reading. http://www.musicradar.com/news...n-iv-sessions-586533

Ego, Georgius by Jerzy Antczak
Great find Slim68. Thanks Simon, I've just finished listening to this and I'm sorry its ended! What a fantastic prog rock / art rock album. Really liked the guitar work which was Gilmouresque at times, super vocalist, I enjoyed everything about it definitely modern prog rock as I like it. The only down side is that getting a physical copy is either £57+ postage here or $40 US inc postage from the States, I may have to settle for an MP3 download.

Andy Johns was assigned to produce the first Television album. The first thing he did was to laboriously set up the drums as per Led Zep, because he thought that's why he'd been hired. Tom Verlaine told him dismantle it all (expletives deleted), and then proceeded to largely ignore Andy's suggestions thereafter.
Which is OK, because Led Zep were ace and so was Marquee Moon, for all the right reasons!
Great title for a song
Just started listening to Rhiannon Giddens new album, Freedom Highway which has just been delivered and duly ripped. Enjoying so far. Had a good write up in the Times last Sunday.

Just checked out both tracks Sister Green Eyes and Rainbow Lollipop from this Bandcamp download and they are pretty good.
"To coincide with their up & coming tour, Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation have released a reworked version of their sultry album track, “Sister Green Eyes”, this will be the bands third single from their much lauded album 2016 album Mirage.
Right from the outset, “Sister Green Eyes” sensuously throbs to a more Eastern drive, with an sedated ‘Velvets’ droned melody, a fluctuating groove straight out of the ‘CAN’ little black book, it flirts around with the hue of a half-goned tranced-out Siouxsie Sioux"
Hellecasters - Return of the Hellecasters
Great live recording of a concert by Ray Brown, Gene Harris and Jeff Hamilton.
Their interpretation of the classic jazz standards is really original.

Another good prog recommendation from Simon (Slim68), once again a Polish band take up the prog rock mantle, good music, good vocals.

So much good newly released music listened to today for the first time from All Them Witches, Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation and then Slim68's excellent prog' recommendations from Albion and Jerzy Antczak. Now relaxing with something older and familiar, a Becks and some 45 year old Genesis. All this before I get on with Gary Shaw's latest recommendations, that man is costing me a small fortune!!
