No particular reason other than I haven't listened to him in quite a while, its different to what I've been playing recently and its a fine album.
saw James Arthur as a support act at the south bank quite a few years back - if my memory serves me right he was being championed by Peter Gabriel .....so another link to his first album...40 years ago?!?
James Arthur, the Guy who won Pop Factor??

This is a really interesting soundtrack album. Its from a1981 French thriller film directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix. Its one of those amazing films that transcends time. Quirky? Yep. Beautiful? Yep. Strange and surreal? Yep. Touching and haunting? You bet. A key part of the films success is its wonderful soundtrack. Highly recommended and worth seeking out.
absolutely...quirky film as you say but started me off with La Wally & then other opera to follow...

Not his best and I didn't particularly enjoy it live on tour last year but the sound of that voice makes up for my misgivings.
If you like his voice, then I can recommend Kevin Mahogany.
Regards,
Jeroen.
Thanks Jeroen I'll give him a try.
Playing this now via Tidal, I have seen much love for this album, now I understand why, It is rather good.
From his 1995 debut album , Maxinquaye.
Vocals by the ever charming Martina Topley-Bird.
Because I've neglected playing this for too long.

It's on the EMI label and is a SACD/CD hybrid. '30th Anniversary edition' ref 7243 5821362. Of all the various DSoTM CDs I've heard, this is the best to date.
Spring - Spring
The second of tonight's "lost" prog albums, this one's Venn is primarily Spooky Tooth and Moody Blues, but with an important sliver of Greg Lake. Released on RCA's response to Harvest, Vertigo and Dawn, the ill-fated Neon, in 1971 it received almost no promotion and live performances must have been a nightmare - keeping one live Mellotron in tune is a trial so keeping THREE (yes, they featured three Mellotrons) on the road doesn't bear thinking about.
It is completely terrific though. The Esoteric reissue features the partially finished second, unreleased album. Oh and their drummer, Pick Withers went on to Dire Straits.

Lee Morgan was killed in the early hours of February 19, 1972, at Slug's Saloon, a jazz club in New York City's East Village where his band was performing. Following an altercation between sets, Morgan's common-law wife Helen More (a.k.a. Morgan) shot him. The injuries were not immediately fatal, but the ambulance was slow in arriving on the scene as the city had experienced heavy snowfall which resulted in extremely difficult driving conditions. They took so long to get there that Morgan bled to death. He was 33 years old.
Neil Diamond, The Jazz Singer, WAV CD Rip.
Memories of listening to this as a youngster with my Dad. I must let him hear it now on the Naim system, I think he will love it.

D'oh! This is a CD I happen to own! Obviously I never bothered to look at the picture
BT, ESCM (Electric Sky Church Music) WAV CD Rip.
I purchased this CD when it was released in 1997 and enjoy it as much today as I did then. Top quality Drum and Bass with a twist.
Cathedral - Stained Glass Stories
The third and (you'll be relieved to read) the last of my trio of 70s lost Prog gems. These lot are American and not to be confused by the Coventry doom metal merchants, and this came out in 1978.
Stylistically it owes a lot to Yes, particularly The Yes Album/Fragile era plus a healthy dollop of early King Crimson, so when released on a tiny US label it not only got no publicity or meaningful distribution, but was hopelessly out of Sep with the times. Not that it matters at this distance as it is a genuinely fine album (they reformed in 2007 to make the very decent The Bridge).
On original gold CD. At unsociably loud volume!
Followed by
on CD from the Pulse Boxset; just to see if i still liked it. I DID!!
A curious version of the 4th, but incredibly well performed (the performance takes a while to get going). Hi-res FLAC on DVD-R.

Massive Attack, Blue Lines WAV CD Rip.
This rip is from my original 1991 CD, I wonder if the 2012 re-master is better as this is pretty good.

This is an Album I would like to hear.
Recorded live in France in 2015 this is one of those "strap yourself in" Blues bands/albums .. lots of energy, lots of Fender and lots of Popa's voice .. fabulous album.

To explain my comment "Seemed appropriate", this was the first RUSH record either of us had heard. My Sally was in hospital, having most of her "lady parts" removed. Saw her to-night, she seems fine and looking great, hopefully she will be home Sunday.
My Dying Bride, Songs Of Darkness, Words Of Light. WAV Cd rip.
It is late and the volume is turned down, but this is so powerful and intense it is just stunning. Doom Metal should be stupidly loud, No?

Best wishes, I hope Sally has a speedy recovery.
