2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Still working my way through my Blues discovery journey and this is definitely a keeper.
Oh Sugaray is good, I mean good.
Nigel,
For someone modestly claiming to be a relative newcomer to the Blues, you ain't half pulling out some good 'uns which had passed me by completely.
Tidalising this now ........... great shout.
Not straying too far from Wayne Shorter!

Dave,
I could immodestly claim that I discovered this through my own tireless research, but this one simply caught my eye on here (probably Ewemon).
Enjoy.
Wayne Shorter - Schizophrenia. 192/24 flac from HDtracks. 1967 BN Liberty Division. Nice band - James Spaulding!
As follow up to this mornings Avishai Cohen...
Boston '73 - One of favorite shows from the DaP series (top 3?) Great sound form the 2-track, 10” master reels!

Wayne Shorter — tenor saxophone
Freddie Hubbard — trumpet
Herbie Hancock — piano
Ron Carter — double bass
Elvin Jones — drumsMusic Matters reissue of the original 1966 Blue Note release.
Hi Quad 33, I am listening to this one right now. Indeed a great album.
Regards, Jeroen.
Well, since I recommended that one, I think I'll play my current Wayne Shorter favourite, 'The Soothsayer'. A similar band, but with McCoy Tyner on piano - whilst not perhaps as well known as Herbie Hancock, he's certainly his equal. And of course, the mighty Tony Williams on drums.
There is an article with a link to an online petition for more Music Matters pressings at analogplanet(.)com (and the SH forums) if you have not seen/signed it yet!
Brilliant, I am aware of the MM petition and have all the 33rpm releases. Just not sure my bank balance could take the strain what with the falling pound plus the shipping cost from the USA to the UK. Also my partner would like a holiday this year.
Regards Graham.
Streaming another Dead show - this time a '72, from the Paramount Theatre in Portland, Oregon on 26th July. Highlight is a 31-minute "Dark Star". Stunning.

Well done on the 33s! I only have four - was turned off by their sudden price jump! They are beautiful but pricey and yeah, lousy distribution!
Wayne Shorter - Adam's Apple. 96/24 flac from Qobuz. Will end the WS binge with this pretty one from 1966. Shorter had an amazing run at Blue Note in the 60s (no dud in his output) and all that while touring/playing/composing in the Miles Davis band.
Half time at the footy, so ................. Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle.
Still with the "Stevie" theme, another blast from the past ......... 's brilliant.

Glad you are enjoying it.
Brett Anderson - "Slow Attack" (2009) if memory serves, discovered on this thread from Voltaire
Steve Earle & The Dukes - Terraplane.
Last of the "Steve's" for tonight ........... a more bluesy feel than usual from Mr Earle.
Coldplay - "A Head Full Of Dreams" (2015)
Airbag, Identity WAV CD Rip.
I typed the first line, started to listen and was drawn into the music, 5 tracks later I absolutely know why.
Seasick Steve - Dog House Music.
Final one of tonight's "Steve" saga, this one from Mr. Wold, the original and best, IMHO.
Nighty Night.

Ewen, if you're liking that one, try this ........... though I suspect you already will have.
Toronzo Cannon - John The Conquer Root.
I've posted this one before, and it's full of modern-day Chicago blues ............ with a flying V too!
Pink Floyd, Animals WAV CD Rip.
One of my favorite Floyd albums. My best friends Dad had this and it blew me away the first time I heard it.
The Kinks, you Really Got Me, greatest hits because I watched the Story of the Kinks at the Empire in Liverpool a while back whihc reminded me just how many great songs these had. Good play too and well worth watching even if you are not a Kinks fan. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
