2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
On CD:-
Laura Marling - Semper Femina
Listening to disc 2 – December 22nd, 1965 2nd set. This is with the “second great quintet” (Shorter, Hancock, Williams, Carter, Davis). Phenomenal!

Ewen, if you're liking that one, try this ........... though I suspect you already will have.
Toronzo Cannon - John The Conquer Root.
I've posted this one before, and it's full of modern-day Chicago blues ............ with a flying V too!
Haven't heard it Dave but will make up error for that today. To be honest Dave I don't tend to listen to a lot of modern day blues artists with a few exceptions as I tend to prefer my blues old style
Triggered by all the post before a rather mainstream album of Wayne...
2nd album during my workout, much more dynamic and interesting...
Piano for breakfast...
Mendelssohn's piano trios by the Sitkovetsky, with - at the time - Elschenbroich om cello. On SACD.
Cheers
EJ
New solo guitar works (dances) written for Starobin by Carter, Ruders, Mackey, Harvey, Babbitt, etc.
(2016) streaming
First listen. Plan to listen to it again this evening. Very enjoyable.
Pops Staples - Don't Lose This.
Fantastic laid back groove from Pops ............ just the thing for a relaxing sunny blue sky North Yorks. afternoon.
It's there on Tidal, so have a wee listen, you surely won't be disappointed.
As the snow piles up.
Talking Heads - True Stories.
Probably their most underrated album, but for me, the quite unique Mr. Byrne never fails to entertain.
Hurray for the Riff Raff. The Navigator. Tidal.
On CD:-
Sheryl Crow - The Globe Sessions
Marty does it again. Brilliant album IMHO.

I totally agree, Bert. This one is way more avant garde, and much more challenging listening. I'll play it later. Thanks for reminding me.
There's a lot of great jazz being listed on recent pages.

I didn't know about this and I like it a lot so great recommendation. I just got it off qobuz for £6.98 24/192. not bad price I thought.
Great series on the RCO label. Stunning performances and well recorded to SACD.

Glad you like it sjt. As I said it's a classic I paid a little more than £6.98 for my vinyl copy so sounds like a bargain to me.
