2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
The Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks.
Enough of this laid back dub stuff .............. time to kick the speakers into life .......... so, this ....... LOUD!
The album which, IMHO, kicked life back into the music scene.
Brian Eno - "The Shutov Assembly". I'm a bit pyrexial, as coming down with a cold. Along with the Co-Codamol this is very soothing and taking me to another world. Described as being more like a painting than music, Shutov is reminiscent of Eno's earlier Ambient works, and is one of my favorites.
1st run intriguing music...

And here's me been thinking for years that I was the only person to appreciate this fab album!
I like it too, once dayjay had kindly drawn my attention to it.
I've been continuing with the Beatles today whilst installing a Ron Smith high gain TV aerial in the loft. Up and down, up and down. Followed the White Album with Abbey Road and now this, which is rather refreshing.
16/44 WAV. 1st play and I really like it.
Joanne Shaw Taylor - Diamonds in the Dirt.
For all the folks enjoying Joan Osbourne, try this one ............. a bit more bluesy, with some of Joanne's fiery guitar work .......... and she's British too!
Best of all, it's out there on Tidal.
Barbra Lica, I'm still learning
A new discovery for me, nice laid back vocal Jazz, recommended
Swedish folk music from 1999:
Lena Willemark, vocals, violin, wooden flute
Per Gudmundson, violin, Swedish bagpipes, vocals
Ale Möller, , mandola, droneflute, wooden flute, shawm, harmonic, low whistle, willow flute, hammered dulcimer, folkharp, vocals
Horace Tapscott - Autumn Colors. CD rip. Recorded in Hollywood, CA 1980, released 1984 in Japan. 2010 pricy re-issue now oop. Hopefully it will be back in a budget re-issue!
Status Quo - Rocking All Over The Years.
It's not big, and it's not clever, but I've recently discovered the joys of prepping dinner in the kitchen, bopping to something fairly undemanding ......... quite LOUD, from the music room, I'm afraid.
Cue much off key "singing".
2017 - Tidal...
Anohni - Paradise...
I have always been fascinated by Hegarty's work and his very exquisite vocals.
1974 - Live double vinyl - German pressing...
This brilliant Lee Morgan album...
Lee Morgan – trumpet
Wayne Shorter – tenor sax
Herbie Hancock – piano
Grant Green – guitar
Reggie Workman – bass
Billy Higgins – drums
Music Matters reissue of the 1966 Blue Note Records release.
Listening to the 8th in c minor...live, September '93
A + 3 | WAV
(1998)
Olé Coltrane from 1961. CD rip. Nice.
Coleman Hawkins.
