What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Rush - Moving Pictures. CD rip
Because a track came on in the car today and I haven't played it for ages and everyone's out so I can now give it a good blast .
Plan B - The Defamation of Strickland Banks.
Having had a listen to Rag 'n Bone Man's album, I was reminded that this blue eyed soul boy's offering hadn't had a play for a while, so ................. why not?
For good measure.
Nice to hear two unegotistical musicians producing a genuinely 'new' collaborative sound...Was it really 1994?

In need of some more Beth Hart and going for this one. Bonamassa and Hart are a natural musical fit complementing each other so well, this album is a bunch of excellent covers.
First album whilst dinner cooks. This is quite exquisite (and i'm not a great Jazz fan) both musically and sonically. Well worth a listen.
Stacey Kent - Raconte-Moi...

Good choice Dave. An album that i've not played for a while either. One for later

Thanks James, I'm no great jazz fan either but I've seen a few good reviews of this on the forum, I'll give it a whirl.
Change of pace - tempted by this Qobuz bargain HiRes download to supplement my meagre Bill Evans collection. Thanks to those who flagged this up.

couldn't agree more...
Adele - "25" (2015) overplayed it when I first bought it, but, for me, it certainly deserves a re-visit from time to time. Now is one of those times.
1st run, one of the early albums, quite enjoyable so far...
Original vinyl
Why? Thought it time for some classic Rush and not played this in yonks

Barbra Lica - I'm Still Learning
Can't recall who recommended this but it is rather lovely. Possibly a bit sugary for some but I like it very much. There is a charming quality to it. Barbra doesn't seem to take herself to seriously which makes this all the more attractive. She can hold a choon too. It just make me smile when I listen - always a good sign.
'Tis on Tidal if you fancy giving this one a go.

(1985)
One of my all time favourite bands from their blues beginnings through their commercial rock/blues/DVD/MTV friendly periods and back again. These boys rock and can play as well as anyone out there. The Tops recorded their albums well, this has a DR of 14 and sounds great, as ever.
Doyle Bramhall ll - Rich Man.
A really listenable funk / soul / blues tinged album from a musician who's contributed to so many other artist's projects.
I've posted this one before, it really is worth a listen, and it's out there on Tidal.
Slowly working in no particular order through my Joni collection..
Late 70s UK issue of the 1974 11-track vinyl LP...
Arvo Pärt - Tabula Rasa, I heard a bit of the title piece on Radio 3 this morning and had to listen to the album. I love this, the piece Tabula Rasa especially. "holy minimalism", the first movement simmering with suppressed energy, the second movement somehow attains joyous stillness and transports me to a meditative place of great joy. (
Elliott Smith - "New Moon" (2007) disc 2 of 2
Very well collaboration no trio...
I didn't yet listen too often to this one. It's strange as I in general a fan of Brad. So I will give it another try in the hope that I will appreciate this one more as so far...

Twas me!
I've just discovered this lady, I love the humour in her work. She reminds me of Fredrika Stahl.
I've just got this one and have been listening to it almost constantly, I think I prefer it. Must check out her other album.
Jackson Browne - "The Very Best of ........." (2004) discs 1 & 2, one of my favorite songwriters
