Dr. Tripp - Vindaloo E.P.

Much in Steve's recent vein. Dr. Trippy deal in Goa dance infected with dub and toasting.

Justin Adams - Desert Road.

Justin, one of the guitarists in Robert Plant's Sensational Space Shifters, captures the sound of the desert perfectly on this one.

Even if North African desert trance blues isn't normally your thing, this is a great chill out album ...... highly recommended.

"Digitally remastered and enhanced"

i wonder what the enhancements  are?

In relation to the real gone releases

.sjb

A quick stumble around t' net reveals that they seem to be releasing copyright expired tracks / albums, and that SQ very much depends on the source material used.

Their website doesn't really go into any real detail, about remastering or "enhancements", but the SQ on the Hooker boxset is superior to many of the songs I already had.

Steve "ran Audirvana Dynamic Range checker over it and the album comes out with a DR of 15/16 which is right up there with the best."

We seem to be treading the same path at the moment Dave and yes my quick findings are the same as yours about Real Gone, they are NOT in fact Real Gone Music which is a US based label. I possibly just got lucky with the Hooker set but at the low prices they are charging I'm willing to take another punt or two on them with some other box sets I fancy...

This is what Discogs has to say about the US based Real Gone Music label i.e. not our Hooker box set which is a UK set up:

Real Gone Music
Profile: U.S. reissue label, established in 2011, mainly releasing material from Warner Music Group affiliated labels. Established by by Gordon Anderson (3) and Gabby Castellana, who previously established Collectors' Choice Music and Hep Cat Records.
This label should be added with the original branded label if shown on the release.

For the Unofficial entity pretending to be this label see Real Gone Music (4).

Don't confuse with the UK/Europe based budget reissue label Real Gone that issues multi-disc box sets in a variety of genres and series.

Real Gone
Profile: UK/EU-based budget reissue label. The slogan "Digitally Remastered and Enhanced for Superior Quality" is typically printed below the release's title. Releases are manufactured by www.musicmelon.co.uk (Music Melon).

For the US-based reissue label focusing on reissues from labels associated with Warner Music Group, please use Real Gone Music.

Steve - Younger folk often raise an eyebrow or two at oldsters such as ourselves liking Dance/Trance/IDM/Goa music (especially if you'rte like me and don't have a danceable bone in your body). But for me these acts are the modern inheritors of of 1960s Psychedelia. I love it!

Hi Nick - I totally agree with your comments of this music being inheritors of the 60s psychedelia, well put! I too notice some raised eyebrows from those (well south of my age bracket) as I stumble out of the car in for example, an M&S car park with this stuff still playing

Wider Angle by Hybrid

Playing more Hybrid for the same reason as earlier. Wider Angle is a (well worth while) extended limited edition 2 CD 2003 upgrade to the original release Wide Angle. Stellar stuff when you're in the mood.

A bit of grunge rock to keep the early evening going and the added pleasure of knowing that the hour goes on this weekend, an event I always look forward to.

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation - Mighty Rearranger.

Moving on from Justin Adams' album, to his guitar work on this, one of Planty's finest.

Great songs, superlative band ............ job done.

Jamie Woon - Making Time.

Some chilled funk grooves from Mr. Woon ............. and it's well recorded ........... and it's on Tidal .......... 'ave a listen.

A 1979 studio recording with bonus tracks added to the 2004 remastering:

This is a stunning triumph for Hancock, and it's too bad that the album has never been issued in the U.S., as it would undoubtedly be a popular addition to his vast catalog. About the closest one can come are the tracks from here included in The Herbie Hancock Box. Maybe someday. (AllMusic)

Breakfast can be very enjoyable with Murray...

Sorry Bert to ruin your Breakfast.  Fake news is all around us.  I couldn't stop its prevalence in the Padded Cell but I will not stand for it in the Music Room!!

Fake News Album Cover:  Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the score shown on this album cover?

The left hand page and the right hand page are from two different movements of the f-minor sonata.  Impossible for this representation to occur in real life.  Someone photoshopped something together to get a look they wanted.  I guess it isn't important enough that a marketing department know what they are doing, have any desire to be truthful or even care that what they are doing is real?  This is blasphemy!  30 years ago when more people knew what they were doing this wouldn't have happened.   A real embarrassing mistake.  Nothing to do with Perahia but Sony should be put on trial for this serious offence.  The secondary offence here is that they should have used the Urtext edition to begin with.

Truth in Album Covers:  There were questions about this album cover but in contrast there is absolutely nothing misrepresented here.  Should they hide behind a veil and hide their beauty to avoid judgement?    A cello is a very beautiful, elegant and even sexy instrument not unlike a very beautiful, elegant and even sexy woman.  In my mind you could not put two more like things together than here.  They match in equivalent beauty.  If you went to a concert with her playing is this not what you might also see?  Bottom line is that this is truthfully a smack in the face as it is just exceptionally lovely to look at all around.  Why not marvel at beauty?  Criticize it but it is still truthful (nothing fake?).  It is what it is.

Why? I really can't come up with any particular reason other than I like it.

It is on Tidal, so have a listen and see if you come up with anything.

Evanescence, Fallen WAV Cd Rip.

Their best album imo.

Their best I agree, super album.

I might bring myself to give this another play over the weekend, that's if I get bored sticking needles in my eyes!

Oddly, over the next 3 months I will be having needles stuck in my left eye, but not because of this album

Good luck with that Simon it sounds like some rather difficult treatment for you... still, its better than having to listen to The Smiths!

Cheers Steve. You are a bad man, but you did make me Laugh Out Loud.
