Inspired by Dave's post. The original version of this great album, not the remaster which just sounds EQ'd to the max

Level 42 - World Machine.

Clifford Curzon, Mozart Piano Concerto's.

i bought this on the recommendation of the Penguin guide when I was looking for some alternative, 'best' recordings of these works.

I'm listening to Concerto 27. Pretty strange recording as Curzon's piano sounds like it's at the back of the hall, behind the audience with its lid closed and with a few duvet's lumped on top of it! Despite the weird recording, the performance is completely worthy of the Penguin Guides ravings. Beautiful stuff. Possibly the best #27 I've heard .

Grant Green - guitar
Joe Henderson - tenor saxophone
Duke Pearson - piano
Bobby Hutcherson - vibraphone
Bob Cranshaw - double bass
Al Harewood - drums

This languid, seductive gem may well be Grant Green's greatest moment on record. Right from the opening bars of the classic title cut, Idle Moments is immediately ingratiating and accessible, featuring some of Green's most stylish straight jazz playing.

Sade - Diamond Life.                                                                           Sade - Lovers Rock.

Ending the '80's fest with this one, couldn't be more '80's.          And her best album, IMHO.

Sarah Jarosz - Undercurrent.  Tidal.  Played this a lot over the last year or so.  Great sounding album with good songs.   Might even have to purchase it at some point soon ...

Tilt, Hinterland via Tidal.

Some of these Guys played with Fish on the Feast Of Consequences album. This is their debut album and is quite a journey.

Sometimes a little pre-bedtime dub is just what's required

Sarah Robinson, Everybody knows. Recommendation courtesy of a very kind man who recently invited me to listen to his Kudos Titan 808's and demo'd the title track. Very nice

A + 3 | WAV

(1983 | 1995 remaster)

I don't often play any of TD's studio albums released after 1981 (Exit ) so its interesting to give this a listen again.

Fred Hersch and others interpret French classical music. You never know how it going to turn out when Jazz musicians interpret classical music. This CD however is an enjoyable listen.

This classic before going into the garden to enjoy a beautiful spring day here in the UK...

John Coltrane – tenor saxophone
Lee Morgan – trumpet
Curtis Fuller – trombone
Kenny Drew – piano
Paul Chambers – bass
Philly Joe Jones – drums

This is an excellent place to start with Coltrane. He hasn't yet reached the adventuresome playing of his later periods, but the Coltrane tone and power are definitely there. This session also benefits from the rehearsal and polish that Blue Note is famous for.
