2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

No Plan - David Bowie
Tracklist
1 | Lazarus | 6:24 |
2 | No Plan | 3:40 |
3 | Killing A Little Time | 3:46 |
4 | When I Met You | 4:08 |
Van Morrison - Keep Me Singing
Van may have lost a little of his vocal capability (the same could be said of his harmonica playing) but this is a less vocally demanding set. What he certainly has retained is that wonderful laid-back, soulful lilt which is so relaxing and rewarding to listen to.
Ellington & Hodges in easy mood mode...nice.

Like Bowie another iconic artist left us last year and like Bowie left us with a superb final album.
ZZ Top - Rio Grande Mud
Nice, modern and refreshing jazz music by Dutch bass player 'Jasper Somsen'.
Following on with more SB..
'Looking In' is the sixth album by Savoy Brown. This album of mud-thick raw British blues & boogie is housed in a spectacular David Anstey artwork gatefold picture sleeve and was released by Decca in 1970.
UK first issue vinyl.

You can't beat some Savoy Brown when you're in the mood.
Chicken Shack - 40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed & Ready To Serve.

Mmm... tasty
Another new purchase getting its first listen. Heard a track on one of Guy Garvey's 6 Music shows and thought i'd give the album a go.
Kate Tempest - Let Them Eat Chaos
Rodney Crowell - Close Ties. Tidal. 2nd run for this one - rather enjoyable.

This one is a double album for which I'm struggling (at the moment) to find a tracklist for. Great album well recorded and good SQ which features a couple of takes of On The Road Again one of which is 7 minutes and a great 11 minute play of Fried Hockie Boogie. As the boys said (nearly 50 years ago) "don't forget to boogie".
Time for a bit of Zep bootage on CD from '72:
A good mix between artistic and modern jazz
One of my first LPs acquired contemporaneously with its release.
Why? Ah, those 1970s vibes...

I recall this came with a magazine which I must have somewhere. I also recall the TV series 'The Beiderbecke Affair' starring James Bowlam, which I enjoyed very much at the time.
Cream - Fresh Cream.
OK, '60's vibe, but still ............
I remember picking this up on my way home from school , plopping it onto the Dansette .......... stunning.

The older I get, the better I was.

Why? Time to go further back time...
They were actually pretty good.
