2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? - Soundtrack.
One of the best recorded soundtracks out there, the singers and musicians are there in the room with the listener.
Brilliant album, and that's coming from someone who can't stand Country Music!
Great soundtrack and movie but to be fair it's not country. It's Bluegrass. Mountain music. Most from right up the road from where I am. RIP Ralph Stanley.
Apologies in order, I did lump it all together under "Country", .................... must try harder.
I do know what you mean though, since, as a long term blues fan, I am well aware of the various genres buried within the music known as "Blues"
Maybe time for me to investigate some bluegrass and mountain music.
Lol. Only joking with you. It's an acquired taste for sure. If you are interested I would recommend Old Crow Medicine Show. Maybe you've heard of them. Newer band and they gave a new one coming out this month that will be very familiar to you I'm sure. Apparently they are redoing Blonde on Blonde. Those boys can play.
O Brother Where Art Thou led to one of my favourite quotations. Apparently when Dan Tyminski (who sang Man Of Constant Sorrow) heard he was going to be voice-over for George Clooney, rang his wife and told her that she was going to hear his voice coming out of George Clooney's body, she replied "Honey, that's my fantasy."
Not only a great debut but one of my favourite album covers too.
Beth Orton - Trailer Park
On CD:-
From Madison Square Garden, 22 September 1993 - by common consent, the Dead's best show in a pretty fallow year. On CD boot:
Another great debut - A gorgeous voice and well worth a listen if you've not heard her music before.
Bess Atwell - Hold Your Mind
Otis Taylor - Clovis People Vol. 3.
More trance blues from Otis, the modern day John Lee Hooker, who was, very clearly, his inspiration.
Can't find this on Tidal, but there's half a dozen of his others on there ........... so, what's your excuse? ...... go listen.
Electric Wizard-Come My Fanatics...
LOUD!

Checking them out as we speak, via Tidal .............. sounding good, and yes, they can play alright!

Really enjoyed listening to this for the first time yesterday so it's getting a second play now. Vocally he reminds me of a young Elton John.
Z Z Top - One Foot in the Blues.
Sun's finally come out over God's own county, so, this ............... erm, quite LOUD!

Dave, if you are interested in exploring bluegrass and mountain music, you might want to have a listen to Nickel Creek and The Steeldrivers. There are albums of both on Tidal.
If you want to dip your toe in, start with Nickel Creek - Reasons Why (The Very Best). I am no expert, but I really like this band.

Hi Nigel,
Just had a blast of the Nickel Creek album ............. rather enjoyable ............. oh dear, another evening on Tidal.
Thanks for the shout.
Time for one of my favorite jazz albums:
Next up is this one. I haven't heard it yet.
On this gloriously sunny Spring evening it feels like a hard bop sort of time:
Great album....
