2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Absolutely!
Pure pop/rock classic. So many great songs including "Drive" which will forever be linked to Live Aid.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? - Soundtrack.
One of the best recorded soundtracks out there, the singers and musicians are there in the room with the listener.
Brilliant album, and that's coming from someone who can't stand Country Music!
Great soundtrack and movie but to be fair it's not country. It's Bluegrass. Mountain music. Most from right up the road from where I am. RIP Ralph Stanley.
Apologies in order, I did lump it all together under "Country", .................... must try harder.
I do know what you mean though, since, as a long term blues fan, I am well aware of the various genres buried within the music known as "Blues"
Maybe time for me to investigate some bluegrass and mountain music.
Dave, if you are interested in exploring bluegrass and mountain music, you might want to have a listen to Nickel Creek and The Steeldrivers. There are albums of both on Tidal.
If you want to dip your toe in, start with Nickel Creek - Reasons Why (The Very Best). I am no expert, but I really like this band.
Steeldrivers w/ Chris Stapleton. Great voice!

Oh it certainly is...
LP - on bright yellow vinyl 2016 reissue from the Elektra years box-set : )
Even though this is digitally remastered, and on coloured vinyl it sounds quite good - better than CD anyway!
Debs
Bloody marvellous. Great Tom Waits Comp, The Island Years
CD Rip
Unitiqute all programmed for the weekend of The 100 Greatest Prog Anthems Of All Time. All from CD Rips this is what streamers are made for.
I've spent the last couple of hours getting acquainted with Bluegrass, thanks NigelB and Spurrier Sucks.
I'm seeing some common ground between this music, and blues, my first love, and I will return to learn more.
In the meantime, for the rest of this evening ............... these ...........
Joe Bonamassa - Blues of Desperation.
Joe Bonamassa - Sloe Gin.
Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe.
Bonamassa fest here for the rest of the evening, and, ............... why not? ................. he is a bit good, after all.
Oh, should mention ........................ awfully LOUD.
Nighty night.
The Bros. Landreth - Let It Lie
Absolute belter, that's why.

Nice new album...
Fleetwood Mac-Rumors
would you believe my first time listening to this album? I've heard songs from it but never the entire album.
Listened to this yesterday on my mobile setup, all there albums are of high quality and recommended, in the past they called themself Simple Acoustic Trio for those who are interested by the music....
Paul Simon. One-trick Pony (1980). On CD from 1987. Late in the evening, a Friday evening, is a good time to enjoy this smooth jazzy funk of an album.

Jon, if you hadn't misspelled the album title (Rumours), no, I wouldn't believe you
It was the third best-selling album of the 1970s, behind The Wall and LZ IV, but maybe you weren't born yet?
So what'd you think?
1st run
The Vulgar Boatmen - You and Your Sister
I've loved their other stuff but this is my first listen to this 'Remastered 25th Anniversary Edition'. I can confirm it is all guitars, drums and good tunes. Lots of references to 'driving somewhere'.

dav301,
Are you in the UK? I wonder what UK listeners think of the Capitol Records bastardization of the Beatles' early albums (combining singles and album tracks into multiple-publishable units) and their Dexterization (reverb and echo added to copies of the original master tapes). Wasn't until I started paying a premium for imported UK LPs that I discovered the immediacy and cohesion of the Beatles' early albums. No wonder The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl announced tracks from both A Hard Day's Night and Help! as "something from our latest album".
