2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

It must be good. Looking forward to it.
'Big' Joe Turner - The Midnight Special. CD rip. Lazy afternoon sweet!

But it didn't sound like they were enjoying themselves by the end so decided on this next.

That's much better.

Piano Concerto No. 2 in c-minor, op. 18 | Piano Concerto No. 3 in d-minor, op. 30
The power of a great album cover, and that's great cover.
No nowt about either composer or musician but I've found it on Tidal and giving it a listen.

A few trax off the album due 16th June
Describing his musical style, Edward said, "I play what they call the old Piedmont style, but I call it East Virginia blues 'cause that's where I learned it".

Starting this morning with Schubert (and then watch the grandprix of China).
I find that most compilations are not recognised by the Mu-so app lookup (a shame given the way the UServe treats compilations) but this one is so I can check on the artists.
Prokofiev: Overture on Hebrew Themes
I just discover this tune! Interesting short piece Prokofiev wrote in 1919 for piano clarinet and string quartet.
Prokofiev was not too keen on this work per Wiki, but I found this charming and fun. Ashkenazy playing piano on it and I think it fairs much better than his conducting effort with LSO on this CD.
I love these Prokofiev's short sketches.
Streaming Radio Paradise - excellent as always!
Hilary Hahn. Bach: Violin and Voice.
That's a superb album, with wonderful interplay between the violin and the two voices.
Saw this lady play in my local chapel/venue recently. Fabulously entertaining as always. Love the laid back style of Stripped. Perfect for a Sunday morning
Continuing with Bach and Hilary Hahn.
Since I last played this I have changed plinth (twice), top plate, sub-chassis (twice), tone-arm, cartridge, phono stage, interconnects, mat, belt and probably some other bits I've forgotten about (but according to Socrates it's still the same LP12). Not surprisingly, it sounds better than I recall.
Perfect for a lazy, Sunday afternoon
Another old vinyl album. Normal weight (no need for 180g - what's that all about anyway?). Sounding superb!
The weather in Holland is beautiful today. Clear sky and nice temperature.
So I am in the mood for music that I associate with nice weather.
For me, the Buena Vista Social Club is one example of such music.
Bah! A glorious day and I'm stuck inside, working (the joys of being self-employed with deadlines to meet). So i'm listening to this Raven double-header CD to keep me cheerful...
