2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Joan Baez - Diamonds and Rust
Just cleaned this Oxfam vinyl with my Loricraft PRC4 and now side 2 sounds great whereas only side 1 appealed before. Both sides now good. I don't like her Bob Dylan impersonation - she should have sung it her way. I seem to remember they were close for a while.
Terry from Loricraft said the best pressings were always made in the summer because the vinyl always released better. There is thread recently started on modern vinyl. I'm not yet persuaded to buy new when I have yet to find an original which doesn't respond to a proper clean. The new stuff should also be cleaned. A record cleaner is really important if you love vinyl.
I have really good CD replay as well, but vinyl is fun and I just love flicking through the records in Oxfam, and feeling that I'm giving money to charity.
Phil
Can't think of many 20 odd years into their career coming out with something so vital.
And to think he went on for nearly another 30.
What a remarkable man.

A bit of technical listening: 24/96 via USB, 24/96 via SPDIF, and 16/44 via CD. Might as well not bother - in this case, I find the differences to be minimal The performance is truly excellent, the recording is merely good.
Cheers

on the Winter&Winter label from 1989. Featuring Kevin Eubanks, Lonnie Plaxico and Cassandra Wilson singing on one track.
Playing this 6LP boxset that arrived here this morning : )
Starting with Symph no.1 [ recordings from 1952 ] took me a few minutes to tune my ear to mono and figure out where to leave the volume knob position, but very much enjoying the boisterous energy of the composition, and the enthusiasm of the LSO.

One of the best concert venues.
Justin Adams - Desert Road.
Hypnotic, trance desert blues from Justin, a mainstay of Robert Plant's band ............ great stuff.
Maria João Pires, her Erato recording of Schumann's Kinderszenen and Waldszenen. Beautiful and very intriguing woman, great pianist.
Justin Currie - "What Is Love For" (2007)

Shame that he isn't more well known as this is a great album.

Hi Ewen,
I'm a huge fan, of both his work with Planty, and his own projects.
This is a cracking album too. From 2011, with Juldeh Camara and several of the Sensational Space Shifters in attendance.
Juju - In Trance.
Ali Farka Toure with Ry Cooder - Talking Timbuktu.
The album which first got me into the whole Desert Blues thing.
A great place to start, for anyone looking for an introduction to this genre.
Best of all ........... it's on Tidal.
Kate Walsh - "The Real Thing" (2011)
Inspired by a comment in another forum thread. Probably one of my favourite live albums - the musicianship on show and the atmosphere of this recording really makes it for me.
Eric Clapton - Unplugged

Max,
I will go with you, pre-historic recording on a very fine sounding Denon label:

Bert I am a big Red Garland fan but haven't heard this particular album. Any good?
