I feel fortunate to have seen Joey Alexander last night, at Jazz Alley in Seattle.  Impressive artist and trio.  Jazz has a bright future.  Keep it up, Joey!  Enjoying his Countdown album.

He is on a world tour; so, you have a good chance of seeing him.  Do not miss!

Great music the piano however doesn't sound completely perfect as happens more on these older recordings, while we do. also have some excellent sounding albums out of this period...

Bert I am a big Red Garland fan but haven't heard this particular album. Any good?

Musically it's ok, good but not great. Sound wise I am not so satisfied, even sometimes have the feeling the piano is out of tune....., so first try before buying....

Famous Starker/Dorati Dvorak's Cello Concerto.

This is a new Universal digital remaster pressed at the Optimal Media. Flat and quiet. I'm sure the original analogue pressing would sound better but in a pinch, this is not a bad alternative at less than 20 bucks.

A + 3 | WAV

Playing (ripped) CD 2 from yet another excellent Tangerine Tree recording. This Brussels concert was very enjoyable and captures what TD did best during their early touring years. The energy and immediacy of their play far more evident than the studio albums.

Paul Simon, Still Crazy After All These Years (!975). On CD from 2005. While I prefer the original vinyl, this CD has a couple of extra demo tracks that are a lot of fun to hear.

I started listening to this on the way into work this morning and will finish it off tonight when i get home (as i've stupidly not transferred it onto my Sony Walkman yet). I must explore some of his other work as i'm really enjoying this recent purchase.

Listening to this one again. Just superb. So much so that i've gone and purchased her previous albums

Sarah Jarosz - Build Me Up From Bones.

Two-CD boot, released in 1994, of a show at the LA Sports Arena on 26th April 1975. A very good audience recording, for the time (though not as good as the ones Mike Millard made at the same venue at the same time, such as Cruel But Fair). Note the anachronistic cover - the shot of Dave was taken on the '77 tour.

Great mixture of jazz and pop.

Béla Bartók (1881-1945) | György Kurtág (b1926 - ) | György Sándor Ligeti (1923-2006)

Armida Quartett:  Johanna Staemmler (violin) | Peter-Philipp Staemmler (cello) | Martin Funda (violin) | Teresa Schwamm (viola)

Nothing like some wonderful Bartók and 20th century string quartet to get your blood curdling in the morning and to test your sanity.
