Vinyl

Why? I am not a great Genesis fan (certainly not of anything that came after this particular platter) but SEBYP is one of my all time favourite albums for some reason.

Just played this one from the Ozrics cranked up to just this side of sociable. I'm one of those fans of theirs who is totally happy with their slight changes of styles and emphasis over the decades so this fairly recent album sits really well with me.

This is an album that I scarcely play, since the remastered tracks on the second disc sound too bright compared to all the original versions. However, the first disc contains some rare gems which I realise now I should not have overlooked. Actually they may be from some of his later albums, which have strayed too far from what I've liked about him, but on hearing them again...well, my ears are now more open. Rather good.

I'm currently really enjoying 'Life Begin Again'  - superb!

Have always liked the Black Crowes, but I've never had much by them, so thought that I'd try this as it was only £3.99 at HMV. Listened to it in the car on the way home, and it's brilliant so far.

Eric Bibb - Live a Fip.

The ever excellent Mr. Bibb, this one recorded in front of a live audience for a French Radio station broadcast.

Disc 2 is simply stunning.

Maria João Pires, her Erato recording of Schumann's Kinderszenen and Waldszenen. Beautiful and very intriguing woman, great pianist.

Max,

I will go with you, pre-historic recording on a very fine sounding Denon label:

I'll look for it now, both for her and for Mozart. Thanks for the hint.
