Harry Manx - Dog My Cat (Don't you just love that album title!)

I was recently introduced to this fine artist (thanks Stevee) and am exploring his albums. Although I think I just prefer his Wise and Otherwise album, this too is a fine piece of work, both albums recommended by Ewemon - cheers.

Think I am gonna have to visit the big river!

I'm delighted that you're enjoying his work Nigel. Most of it is available on Tidal as you know, so its easy to try before you buy. Do try Mantras for Madman and indeed the rest of his albums. Its hard to understand he isn't better known, perhaps fora like this can help to change that.

Before you go splashing the cash on the big river it might be worth checking prices at Discogs.com which seem to be better for Harry Manx at the moment.

Steve

Steve yep, Mantras for Madmen is up there with Wise and Otherwise. Great stuff!

Yep I can never understand why he isn't better known. I have been posting his covers on here since I started posting. My version of Dog My Cat has the original cover which is completely different to the one above.

Let me jump on board here. Another great find thanks to this thread. Worth every penny for my membership here.

I have been listening to a lot of this lady recently and this one has just arrived. First play but it won't be the last, great female vocal jazz.

Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara - Tell No Lies.

Another one from these masters of desert trance blues, with a touch of Bo Diddley chucked in for good measure.

Again, it's on Tidal, so go listen ............... 's great.

I've been listening to much trancey, floaty, atmospheric stuff over the last week, so it's time to WAKE UP!

The Rolling Stones - Mono boxset ................... R 'n B from some old geezers.

A long overdue return to this one ............ and it's just as atmospheric in it's own way.

Mind you ............... quite LOUD!

Before a Saturday night out.....a huge slice of 80s cheese. On vinyl, bought this afternoon from a local 2nd hand record shop. Quick clean on the okki and ready to go. And why - I just couldn't resist the opening track.

(2013)

This seemed like a good way to kick off after the football.

"This epic live radio broadcast captures ZZ Top at the very cusp of their worldwide success, recorded during the East coast leg of their 1980 breakthrough tour at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey. The band also made a high-profile foray into Europe at this time; their performance on German TV's Rockpalast being something of a landmark in the band's long history. Prior to the formation of the mighty ZZ Top, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Billy Gibbons had already served his rock'n'roll apprenticeship as front man for the legendary Texan psychedelic garage band,The Moving Sidewalks, during the late 1960's. Their classic single 99th Floor topped the local Austin charts for six weeks in 1967 and the band toured as support to both the Doors and Jimi Hendrix the following year. By 1969, the Sidewalk's day was done and Gibbons formed ZZ Top in Houston..."

Prince 4 Ever on CD

Several days ago I fitted an Isotek Optimum power cord to the XPS DR powering my nDAC. I have to say these CDs are now totally trasformed into spectacularly exciting music. I have the same power cord on my Rega Aria phonostage.

I tried Poewerlines on all three PSs but in the end I found music tiring and took them off as they were on loan. I am working my way through the PSs making sure the sound improves loads each time, and the next Optimum from the dealer goes on the SuperCap DR. I am just using 1m length.

This must be as good as an 555 DR PS.

Not sure yet. He spends a huge amount of spare time in the studio playing around with ideas so it could be another studio set.
