Hi Simon, I like all of the main projects that Simon Posford is or has been involved with, delighted that you are getting into it too, you will have some fun discovering his other material. Have you finished that rather nasty sounding treatment involving needles and eyes?
Hi Steve, I am looking forward to listening to his other work, should be fun. Thanks for asking, unfortunately not. 2 more months of injections (one per month) should have me sorted. I have not posted much recently as I do struggle with looking at screens for very long. I have treated myself to a 272 to make me feel better though!!
A NAC 272 what a great way to make yourself feel better and take your mind off treatment!! Throw some Hallucinogen at it and soon the next two injections will be out of the way...
All the best,
Steve
Planet Rock on Iradio.
Darren Redick playing a listener poll of their top 40 Guitar Riff tracks and very enjoyable is has been too. Down to the last 5 now.

Camel, whilst cooking dinner and before attempting to map my Downloads folder to its own drive. This may be the last music I hear from the NS01 for a while. Thankfully I have a few other sources!

Sometimes I just have to play something by Simon Posford from one of his various incarnations, Younger Brother, Hallucinogen or Shpongle. This one was a follow up to a Flock of Bleeps.
I've been playing most of those albums today! Thanks for introducing me to this music, a while ago.
I'm glad you're liking his music Klyde.
Thanks Steve, another album/band to enjoy. Playing this now and enjoying it very much. All the best, Simon.

Well I have also been enjoying this album thanks to this post and have checked out Simon Posfords earlier work with Shpongle (particularly Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland) and just about to order some of the CD's off the web.

Well done Pixies, I'm delighted others are discovering and enjoying his music.
Finally got round to listening to this tonight. This band - a side project of Ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips - rocks.
Go forth now and buy everything they have released.

Nick, you might well find it is cheaper to download Moon Duo and Wooden Shjips albums on bandcamp unless you feel the need to have the physical media.

Good point, thanks! (Though this was a birthday present via my Amazon wishlist...)
On vinyl (back for a weekend visiting my mum for Easter, I won't pick up my cat until tomorrow, which means she isn't sitting on me and it's easier to play viny when I don't have to deal with the glares every 25 minutes).
Why,? I did my 20 albums on the thread, and am now playing some of the others that I didn't put on the list, which could just have easily been there. I'm trying not to use the word iconic, but it's hard not to, fantastic lyrics, Bowie and Ronson with the rest of the band tore it up musically, I was an it too young to realise how amazing it was on release, at 8 I watched Topmof the Pops with my 16 year old sister and thought Bowie was amazing, if weird, less than a decade later I was in awe, 45 years later it still sounds fresh.
Not one of their best, admittedly, but the first side is well worth a listen. UK first pressing from 1986:
Kyung Wha Chung - The Great Violin Concertos
These are sounding amazing since adding an Isotek Optimum power cord to the XPSDR of the nDAC. I also have a SL between the nDAC and the 282, but the power cord made a big difference on top. The violin sounds so rich, deep and mellow, the other instruments are so clear. An emotional tour de force.
Here is an extract from Wikipedia. The middle of the seven children in her family, Kyung Wha Chung's father was an exporter, and her mother a pianist and guitarist. She began piano studies at age 4, and violin studies at age 7, where she proved more sympathetic to the violin. She became recognized as a child prodigy, and by the age of 9 she was already playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1967, Chung and Pinchas Zukerman were the joint winners of the Edgar Leventritt Competition, the first time for such an outcome in the history of the competition.
Her next big opportunity came in 1970 as a substitute for Itzhak Perlman, with the London Symphony Orchestra. The success of this engagement led to many other performances in the United Kingdom and a recording contract with Decca/London. Her debut album with André Previn and London Symphony Orchestra, which coupled Tchaikovsky and Sibelius concertos, brought her international attention, including the top recommendation in the BBC Radio 3's Building a Library programme which compared the various recordings of the Sibelius.

Vinyl again.
Another of my nearly made into the 20 regularly listened to albums. Someone, I think Sloop John B, saw Mary live for the first time recently. I've been lucky enough to see her many times over 3 decades. One of the greatest interpreters of modern Irish folk/folk-rock songs I've ever heard, a glorious voice, sensitive interpretations, with the reputation and musical understanding to get brilliant band members, like several of her albums this has the great Declan Sinnott on guitar. Bright Blue Rose is a wonderful song, alongside Ride On it's Jimmy McCarthy's best composition, Mary's singing would be enough to make me pause, with Sinnott's plangent chords, it leaves me realising at the end I've held my breath for over a min
The boy has taken over the stereo...
The guitarist of Beggars Opera co wrote Passenger with Iggy Pop.
They bring backa lot of memories for me.
Vinyl again.
For me, some of the songs have dated in 35 years, the 1st side 80s consumerism numbers. But overall a very fine album, from a great singer songwriter guitarist, finishing with How Will I Ever Be Simple Again and Al Bowlly, 2 songs that for my taste rate with the finest of pop. Simple shows a great guitarist demonstrating how acoustic can break your heart when played by a master.
