2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
I believe this is the only Bach that Brendel recorded. That's a pity because is very beautifully.

I can't get into that whole noodling ECM type jazz. Trying! but ain't happening for me!
This is more like it. Can you say disco?
I think I had almost all of their disco era LPs. Then I tracked their work when they transitioned into the smooth/funk jazz ( GRP ) then when he moved to Impulse!, I stopped following. I bought one more after Tales from Hudson. Brecker was featured in McCoy Tyner's 'Infinity' again from Impulse! This is about my limit for contemporary jazz.

Giving this its first spin.
"Novum is Procol Harum s thirteenth studio album, their first since The Well's On Fire in 2003, and is released in the band s fiftieth anniversary year. Kicking things off with the huge and ongoing success of their debut single A Whiter Shade Of Pale , Procol Harum went on to help define the progressive rock genre in the early seventies whilst at the same time embracing their roots in blues and soul. Novum sees a new lyrical direction for Procol Harum with the songs all featuring words by Pete Brown, most famous for his songwriting collaboration with the members of Cream. This has given a different feel to the songs, retaining the thought provoking content for which the band has always been known but with a different slant and elements of humour. As ever, the music and musicianship within the band is of the highest level and this long-awaited collection of brand new songs is sure to be devoured greedily by Procol Harum s devoted fanbase". - The blurb
Just released today, so giving it a first listen on Tidal
Eurhythmic - Ultimate Collection
This CD was also from Oxfam. The vinyl of their Savage album in my collection had far more impact than the CD until firstly I added a Isotek Optimum power cord to the XPS DR powering the nDAC and then several days ago another Optimum to the 300DR PS. I did try the Optimum on the SuperCap DR powering the 282, but it really was a backward step because the sound became rather unnatural.
I see reports of PowerLines adding base to the sound, and that was indeed my experience. PLs on all power supplies became quite tiring, and I gave that up and returned them as they were on loan. They did nothing to the higher frequencies. What the Optimums do is just to add more of the higher frequencies, so everything is much the same but much more realistic.
The Ultimate Collection depends for its impact on conveying the sound of the electronic instruments and voices which are sythesised to give echoing effects etc. Without knowing all the technical detail, I know it's become much more exciting. When I reported on Prince4Ever I only had an Optimum on the nDAC and it was really exciting music. So it seems recordings place varying demands on the HiFi.
So what I have done is to use the power cords to tune my system. I have a SL interconnect from the nDAC to the 282 and that really made a difference as well, but the Optimums allow the PSs to capture the higher frequencies properly with the SL IC just providing a good pipe between the boxes.
Janine Jansen playing Brahms Violin Concerto in D, Op 77..... Adagio right now. Her playing have an impact on me, it`s hard to describe. Listen to her playing Saint Saens as well
Ryan Adams - 29
"Don't spend too much time on the other side
Let the daylight in"
With good coffee after a lie-in, I took his advice.

Just found this on my Sony and realised i'd not really given it a proper play (the problem with buying too many CD's !) so i'm putting that right. Great voice and the usual superb production.
Looking forward to listening to this later at home.
Shelby Lynne - I Can't Imagine
I am not sure how you would catagorize this music. It's a mixture of jazz, folk and classical music I think.
However, I really enjoy this music of Ketil Bjornstad.

Whatever you do, don't ask your parents for advice about the contents...

There is a whole world between ECM Jazz and the Becker Brothers Fushion. But I don't want to talk you into stepping away from what you like. But the already suggested album is definitely not ECM type of jazz.
CD - nation records 1993 : )
One of the most played CDs in my original CDS Nac72 Nap250 SBL system back in the 90s
Good memories : )
Debs
Sean Rowe - New Lore
No apologies for posting this again. Simply stunning!
First run.
Keith Richards - Crosseyed Heart.
Some fag ash rock 'n roll from the riffmeister.
I find the first 10 minutes of the Paris Concert very good. After that it becomes a bit less involving (with one exception) imo. However, I still enjoy the entire track.
The two encores ('The Wind' and 'Blues') are very good. Especially 'The Wind'.
System 7, first album. This is the first time I've heard anything by System 7. This is included in the 22 disc set from Steve Hillage. It's sort of 1990s electro dance type music, but it's still done with taste. There's the occasional explosive guitar riff, but it's mostly drum and synthesiser. I never thought I'd say this about this type of electronic soundscape, but it's actually rather enjoyable. And when you turn up the volume - wow!
BTW Iwas trying to find an image of the album cover art to post here. Curiously I found several pictures of MS Windows 7.
