What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Bill Evans - Some Other Time 24/96 2xHD.
On CD:-
Beyonce - Lemonade
Diana Krall - Wallflower (The Complete Sessions).
I know some on here find this DK album a bit.....well.....let's say commercial. And I agree sheer musicianship is traded for a bit of cheese on this one. But you still get DK's wonderful voice singing some lovely well-known ballads and there are some lovely duets, including a particularly cheesy one with The Buble.
But if you are in the mood to let the music wash over you and not listen too intently, this DK album is the one IMHO. I have got a bad cold at the moment, could even be man-flu, which can be serious. This DK album is just the ticket at the moment. Sooooo relaxing.
Gazza posted:Been listening to Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach album painted by memory from about 1998. Never was a fan of Costello, but he really sings his heart out against a backdrop of Bacharach arrangements, worth a listen.
Gazza, seeing your post I thought I would give this one a whirl on Tidal as I like the work of both artists.
I am only a few tracks in and IMHO it is an absolute belter. Great songwriting and I never appreciated what a fine voice Elvis Costello has.
Many thanks for the tip.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - "Hypnotic Eye" (2014) Mr Campbell and Mr Tench are quite good.
I love this album - it's such a shame that Kanye West spends so much time showing what a complete plonker he is
Eric Bibb & North Country Far - The Happiest Man in the World.
A mix of blues, country with a hint of bluegrass.
Wonderful SQ. Love it.
Ryan Adams - "Ryan Adams" (2014) a mercurial artist, but when he is on (which may be different for individual listeners), he is very good.
Bill Nelson - The Love That Whirls. Vinyl
Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too is the only album by the New Radicals - still one of my most played albums
A Tribe Called Quest - We Got It From Here . . . . Thank You 4 Your Service
1993 - CD (WAV)...
Gentlemen - Afghan Whigs.
My only album of Ms Jones' work. I must get some more of her albums so any tips gratefully received.
It's all downhill from there.

After 'Come Away With Me' her next few albums drifted off this laid back, relaxed, lazy, jazz solo voice & piano into group/band & more pop in style, not bad, but not the same.
'Day Breaks' is her latest release & its back in the same groove as Come Away
It is, but just nowhere near as good. If you don't have them already, try Suzanne Vega's 'Close Up' series. It knocks Snorah into a cocked hat.
Oliver Jones Trio - Cookin' at Sweet Basil, CD rip - Jones swings but with immense feeling!

Many thanks, Mike. Order just placed. BTW Diana Krall's Live in Paris turned up in the post today. Looking forward to unpacking that and giving it a listen tomorrow.
2005 - CD (WAV)...
Day Breaks is pretty damn good IMHO. The version I bought in the States includes some bonus tracks recorded "Live at Newport Jazz festival" which are outstanding!

Yep. Have had the Close Up series for sometime, Nigel. And I seem to recall you suggested it to me. It's a delight and a lovely complement to her earlier albums.
I would say I'm a bigger fan of SV than Ms Jones, but I do enjoy the 'relaxed, lazy, jazz..' style of Come Away With Me, as Mike-B so accurately encapsulates it.
Caribou - "Our Love" (2014)
(1971)
Sometimes nothing but a bit of Zeppelin will do and this is one of the classics.
The worst thing this man ever did is excellent, and it only gets better from there.
