A nice concept album. While I don't know what is between the Orient and the Occident, I prefer my music firmly in the Occident with a sprinkling of from time to time the sounds and flavours of the Orient.
The Debussy, Bartok, Janacek and Chausson are all top notch and familiar works as is expected here. The surprise here for me was my introduction to Tara Kamangar, an American pianist/composer of Iranian origin. The Kurdish / Persian influence is clear in her piece "Once there was and once there wasn't" and her arrangement of André Hossein "Caravane." It is the latter piece that somehow reminds me a little of Faure's "Après un rêve" (think Janine Jansen - Beau Soir) which may explain my attraction to this similar mood? It is music that I will be using in my many foreign movies set in Europe that I have produced in my head. Not many sub-titles as the photography and the music say more than enough.
I love finding new music to add to my treasure trove. The problem is that with so much great music in the world and my brain not begin big enough to remember where I put everything anymore. I think the solution may be to move to a good streamer?
The problem of losing oversight of a big collection is even bigger with a streamer, as you are not visually invited. While I would for many reasons not like to go back to a cd spin....
A very fine album, in a way relaxed but direct...
This album, a tribute to the late, great, Ewan MacColl, has some absolutely brilliant versions of his songs. Highly recommended.
First play of new download. Liking it a lot
Triggered by a couple of their posts about their tour on Facebook ...., a great young jazz trio...

Berlin School Electronica by two fine exponents.
I like a lot! Just bought it. I am not supposed to spend any more money on music this month but the will is weak. These boys are a new discovery for me. May could be expensive...
It could be very expensive SJT they are quite prolific and have material going back nearly 30 years! Downloading from Bandcamp might be more ermm economical?
I've just looked on bandcamp and you are right there is lots there. I must confess I just bought Analog Overdose 2 based on the samples they have there. I have no discipline!
Thanks for introducing me to these lads - great stuff.

I'm glad you're liking them, I was introduced by Gary Shaw (of this forum) and instantly clicked with their music. Schönwälder is involved with other artists too, this album Drei is also really rather good but with a slightly slower, longform style where he is joined by Broekhuis and Keller, you can find it (like the others) on Bandcamp to sample - enjoy.

Giving this a try on Tidal after hearing some good reviews about the band, dark melancholic metal?

OK, '60's vibe, but still ............
I remember picking this up on my way home from school , plopping it onto the Dansette .......... stunning.
Had the pleasure of seeing them live Dave.
Same here - at the Marquee and Clapton broke a string in the middle of Steppin' Out - very frustrating!
Has anyone got the new box set - on vinyl or CD?
Clive
I remember auditioning amplifiers at Martins Hi-Fi in Norwich back in 1986 using this album and a budget (!) of £200 . Came away with a Cyrus 1 (beat the Arcam Alpha...). Still sounding good today
Sade - Diamond Life
Quite strange music, every now and then I listen to it...
Something chilled before bed and one of the all time great Female voices in my view (along with Donna Summer). Carpenters, Gold, Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Ella - born 100 years ago today...
On vinyl...
