2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
U2 - "Joshua Tree" (1987) This band is still relevant to me.
2017 - Tidal.. released today.
The XX - I See You.
2017 -Tidal...released today.
The Flaming Lips...
Eric Le Sage, piano music of Robert Schumann on the excellent French Alpha label. Doug, thanks again.

This is a reissue of Tim Gane's new band's (after Stereolab retired) album from 2013 - originally a limited edition LP. Now available as a triple LP, CD, download. Bleep have the lot.
Sonically it's short form motorik krautrock laced with a tinge of modern electronica, and it's completely the dog's danglies. No video to show from it sadly, but here's a fairly shonky clip of a track live...doesn't do it justice as the album version has great thwack (24 bit download).
Thanks for the 'heads up' on this one. I enjoyed their 2016 release so will be heading to Bleep shortly.

I have quite an amount of his albums and really like his style of playing for Schumann..,...
So happy to see this one being released today. I listened to it today and was moved by it. Pain of Salavation is back at the strenght of their first albums, a great experience for people who can appreciate music with some hard edges. Also the material is quite personal as it's related to the almost dead experience of the frontman of the band who was very seriously sick ....
U2 - "Songs Of Innocence" (2014) and originally at no cost.
1973 - Vinyl - U.K. First pressing...
Jerzy Antczak. Ego, Georgius.
Then Cyril, Gone through Years.
Couple of recent discovery's to me, Both on Tidal and well worth checking out.

I played and heard this album being played so much at the time that it jaded my appetite, its taken many years to be able to sit down and enjoy listening to it again now.
1972 - Vinyl - U.K. First pressing...
Really enjoying this - Holden: The Inheritors
Try before you buy...
Sting - "57th & 9th" (2016) trying again, struggling with this one.

Agree - cracking album, but my enthusiasm also diminished as it seemed to be used endlessly for TV background music at the time!
Released today I believe; a new album by the excellent John Abercrombie quartet.
