Heifetz, Reiner, Brahms Violin Concerto. Sounding absolutely stunning. My NAP500, back from Naim and newly serviced and DR'd 2 days ago. So far, no sign of Any of the well documented burn in issues, just incredible, communicative, authorative, delicious music whatever I play. Wow

Thanks Kevin, that looks like a must-have performance, added to my River basket.

Antimatter, Leaving Eden via Tidal.

First listen to this band/album, cheers Steve.

Half way through and I feel I have been here already in a good way! I really like this.

Thanks Ken  I'm very impressed with the Original Album Series, they seem to be pretty good digital versions at ridiculously good prices, £10 for 5 albums is the norm I have seen, well worth ripping. I've bought this from the river now.

Yet another $5 Big Lots pickup - as you can see ti's always worth a stroll over to see what they have for such little money!

This isn't the correct album art (apologies), playing a double album of EW&F's greatest (live stuff). If you can sit still though this then you must be dead already!

I'm off to New York in August to celebrate my 50th birthday and noticed while I'm there they are playing at Madison Square Garden, along with Chic ft Nile Rodgers - seriously thinking to get tickets for that one!!

That would be a great way to treat yourself on a landmark  birthday, EW&F with Chic should be great fun!

Tickets went on sale today - all booked. Dancing shoes need to be packed, can't imagine people remaining seated too long for this one!

Small Faces. 78 In The Shade. On vinyl from 1976. Generally considered an unsuccessful reunion album, I happen to like this one quite a bit. Maybe a more modern sound to the band, but it's got that Small Faces groove.

(2013)

Transcribed by himself for the German theorbo, beautifully played and well recorded as ever on the Naive Classique label.

We hear an increased maturity of thought allied to the introspective that was always a hallmark of Smith's playing... Smith is at his searchingly expressive best; but even with the quicker dances he offers a melancholic ambivalence that is wholly satisfying. -- William Yeoman, Gramophone August 2013

Perf (4/5) **** / Rec (5/5) ***** For anyone knowing these suites well, this version will prove totally riveting... The recording is intimate without becoming oppressive... Smith's playing is profoundly sensitive. -- George Pratt, BBC Music Magazine September 2013
