What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Slim68 posted:Bert Schurink posted:So happy to see this one being released today. I listened to it today and was moved by it. Pain of Salavation is back at the strenght of their first albums, a great experience for people who can appreciate music with some hard edges. Also the material is quite personal as it's related to the almost dead experience of the frontman of the band who was very seriously sick ....
Playing this now, this was a great recommendation Bert.
Thanks Bert and Simon, I've stuck this into a Tidal playlist for anon.
Level 42 - "The Acoustic Album" (2010)

Why? Undoubtedly due to the influence of my last Spanish style of music played. This impressive DG double album remastered in 24/96 from the original master tapes boasts an impressive dynamic range (DR) of 17 on some tracks and only slight hiss from these recordings, some of which were laid down in the early fifties.
I met him in Bristol in October 1984 and asked him for his autograph (which, of course, I still have). I shook his hand to thank him and was amazed by the size and softness of his hands. My hand seemed to disappear in his.
Currently playing this most recent release from Caravan, which I purchased when I saw them in Salisbury.

Nice story Clive its not something I would ever have noticed or imagined, from the photos and documentaries I have seen they don't look enormous do they?
Sara Blasko - "Eternal Return" (2015)
Mono vinyl, from last year's The Rolling Stones In Mono box set. A complete mess, but that's why I like I think:
Vinyl
Why? Blues for a Friday night.

I saw that gig with John Cipollina at the Roundhouse. It was reported afterwards that one of the Man guitarists had to rerecord all the Cipollina guitar which was out of tune. Possibly sour grapes? Anyhow it put me off the record and I have still not heard it - should I get it?

I'm having one of those days where I can't quite get enough of different sounding genres and artists, just played Melody Gardot and following up with this wee gem from George Benson.
JJ Cale and Eric Clapton - The Road to Escondido
A Canadian forum mate emailed me a link to the two of them playing The Breeze earlier today. I needed more of their voices, and their guitars.

The Clapton album "Live From San Diego" has JJ guesting

Clive, everyone seems to think this was exaggerated at the time.
"Rumours that Micky Jones had to over-dub Cipollina’s guitar, as it was out of tune, before the album could be released, are greatly exaggerated. Only one track, "Bananas," had to have his playing removed/replaced, per Deke Leonard: "Everything ... which sounds like Cippolina is Cippolina"
I was listening to his debut Quicksilver Messanger album just a couple of days who and he is certainly a very accomplished guitarist.
City and Colour - "If I should Go Before You" (2015)
Double vinyl. Any compilation which has "Big Legged Woman In a Short, Short Mini Skirt" by Israel "Popper Stopper" Tolbert With The CA Warren Players has to be heard:
Vinyl
Why? It's another axe to grind...

Thanks, Tony - the Deke Leonard quote must be seen as definitive - I was surprised to read it afterwards as there didn't seem any problems at the gig. Cipollina's playing with Quicksilver was brilliant and I also have a few post-Quicksilver albums with him playing too, but they don't really match up. So would you recommend the Man album with him?
