What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Harry Manx morning today, keeping me company while I am working....
Enjoying a listen to Chris Jones over lunch on my portable setup. Superb playing and an amazing recording. The title track just sends shivers down my spine.
Chris Jones - Roadhouses & Automobiles
Prescott - Thing Or Two
Anyone recovering from Knee or Hip surgery should include this CD in their rehabilitation
Martha and Claudio...always a good combo!
If you like up tempo straight ahead Jazz based on the bebop style of 50s and 60s, you might like this CD as well.
Gomez - Liquid Skin. Streamed CD rip. A little from Gomez in the afternoon sun is always a good thing. A cracking album.
Plus, for many of their album covers they had the good taste to choose the wonderful illustration work of the now late Reggie Pedro - a stunning illustrator & painter.

Great album. That's now on my list for later
The 'smoke session records' is a label I just recently discovered. I have a feeling that I probably like every album they have released (I have the same feeling with the 'Criss Cross Jazz' label). All their albums are in the 'straight ahead' / bebop jazz style. A great way to discover new music is to go to their website, select a random album and listen to it on Tidal. Like the one below, a nice piano trio.
Four old guys making really good jazz music.

Chailly/Gewandhaus: Brahms Symphony 1 & 3
I have never seen eye to eye with Chailly and this is no exception.
Cold and Aloof isn't my kind of Brahms.
Kuma, Chailly must have known that you may not like his Brahms and thus the photo on the cover was the only choice going forward. Basically, all I can see is him flipping the bird to anyone who does not agree with him. So there !
The gorgeous Hannah Reid popped up in my instagram feed earlier and reminded me that i should have a listen to this fine album before i take a listen to Gomez...
London Grammar - If You Wait
A + 3 | 24/44.1 WAV
(2015)
In the mood for some modern psychedelic rock, Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation are one of the best in the genre at the moment and this, their debut, is great to listen to.
Steve Davis (Trombone).
Another excellent jazz album from smoke sessions records.
Not quite made it to Gomez yet. Got distracted by some Goldfrapp on the way...
Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree
A + | WAV
(2000)
A great artist in several senses of the word although I'm not sure if his recent music quite lives up to his early releases.
Christian Poltéra and Kathryn Stott take a more poetic but also more episodic view of Fauré than the more earthy duo of Andreas Brantelid and Bengt Forsberg on this week's new release from Bis. Both are top productions, excellently recorded.
Cheers,
EJ
On CD:-
Babe Ruth - Amar Caballero
Jack Johnson - On and On
Sean Rowe - New Lore
Two of my most recent and most wonderful finds on here. Thanks to Bert for the Sean Rowe shout and thanks to whoever it was who suggested this Jack Johnson album. Good job I no longer use vinyl as these would be showing signs of wear by now.
Bonkers good albums IMHO.

So far, no sign of Any of the well documented burn in issues, just incredible, communicative, authorative, delicious music whatever I play. Wow...
My CD of this ordered after your post arrived today, has been ripped and is playing, I love Heifetz's playing (generally and specifically here). Thanks Kevin.
One of my favourite EC albums. I remember seeing them shortly after this was released, when they played lots of the songs. It was at that post-punk mecca, Colwyn Bay Pier Pavilion. There was so much pogoing that we thought we'd go through the floor. Brilliant night. Brilliant album.

Howlin' Wolf - The Absolutely Essential Collection.
Rough edged Chicago blues from the Wolf ............. it really doesn't get much better than this.
Great value 3 CD set from the Rainforest.
I had a little binge on the river at the weekend ordering (mainly) music that people were playing here. This also arrived today and is ripped to the NAS. I played the 1st CD of this set before the Heifetz that's currently playing, sound quality very acceptable if a bit thin, but who cares, Howlin' Wolf's blues growl out, brilliant stuff, thanks Dave!
Sean Rowe - Madman
Having been introduced to Sean Rowe on here, I am exploring more of his work and I am liking this one a lot.

Jazz Suite no.1
Piano Concerto no.1 in C minor, Op.35 (Concerto for piano, trumpet and strings)
Jazz Suite No.2 (Suite For Promenade Orchestra)
