2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Sticking with these boys and their second album for the next wee while because their heavy psychedelic stoner grunge is hitting the spot.
Last one for this evening.
Tidal. The new album from Sir Ray, one of two great singer-songwriters to come out of Muswell Hill in the '60s. 1st listen, so far so good. Lyrically as strong as anything Davies has done since the glory days of the Kinks, the backing is excellent, although a bit more saccharine than I'd have expected given the Jayhawks playing Davies compositions. Just over half way through, so far the standouts are Poetry and Rock'N'Roll Cowboy. I've ordered the CD from the river, I think it'll get quite a few plays after it arrives, he can still write a hook, a catchy chorus, and can slide cynical insight into something that was comfortable up to that point. Welcome back.

Now this is a Great Album. Superb Prog.
Many thanks for highlighting this artist. The music is superb and I will now fully research this brilliant musician...!

Bought at the weekend, after seeing this. Ripped as WAV. Just finished listening to Live at Fillmore West, she wasn't half good, joyous listening. Thanks for the tip Ken.
Picking up on the Fillmore West theme, I would strongly suggest looking out this one too, as KC was the warm-up for AR.
Try and get the re-mastered 2013 version. The vinyl is outstanding.

I don't have this ^ but am listening to this courtesy of Tidal. Takes me back to my yoof.
Ooh, I didn't know there was a second volume. I looked it up on Amazon and found that the Volume 1 that I have is up for sale for over £500. Someone is having a larf.

Thanks for the recommendation HL, added to the search list.

Bronze by Crippled Black Phoenix
"Soaring, dark theatre rock that moves from atmospheric strings to massive rumbles, catching a wide range of rock structures in between. Thick, metallic guitars crunch down with a heavy prog/psych bite, tearing out chunks of elevated classic rock melodies."
Massive Attack - Heligoland. Massive Attack - Massive Attack v Mad Professor.
Sometimes, only a shot of Massive hits the spot. A dub reworking of the "No Protection" album ....... oh yes.
WAV CD RIP. Another from the Naxos 30 box set, I only listened to the Stabat Mater this time. Moving performance of Szymanowski's tender Polish Romantic choral piece.
And a change of pace for the last listen of the night. For me the high point of Hawkwind's space-rock period, the humour they showed on this album added to the drug and SF influences to make for something I've listened to for decades.

Felix Schmidt, The Virtuoso Cello.
Enjoying several tracks on this fine album, but especially Bruch's Kol Nidrei. Personally, I've always found the full Orchestra backed version too syrupy and schmaltzy. This version, with simple Piano backing to Schmidt's Cello to my ears is perfect. Less is more.
Buckcherry, Best of, a little full on rock for an hour or so. Good album. Flac via audiirvana/Hugo
Can't wait for Vol 2 due out later this year.
Dillinger - CB 200
Prompted by Dave's and HH's postings - this. One of my favourites as a yoof.
The xx - I See You
Gorgeous, rich, sensuous, cossetting, much like the accompanying glass of Argentinian Malbec.
C.
Max Romeo - War ina Babylon.
Lee Perry, The Upsetters and Max make a classic reggae album.
Final one tonight.

Dave, I will tee this up on Tidal and have a listen tomorrow.
I have enjoyed my trip down reggae memory lane this evening and have promised myself to listen to more in future.
