Really loving this LP and already looking forward to Volume 2.

I've only recently picked up on this guy, and like you, am really hoping the album title proves to be accurate, and a volume two will be forthcoming.

If you haven't already, check these out too.

Fink - Biscuits For Breakfast.                                                                         Fink - Hard Believer.

Dave,

Thanks for the Fink recommendations.

I have been a big fink fan for years and have everything on vinyl and CD.

I'm not a fan of all of his work. This album however is very good.

It's in that typical Blue Note 50s / 60s style.

A fantastic sonic Q 3xCD plus 1xDVD set if you can find it for sensible money....

Another good one from Donald Byrd, with a young Herbie Hancock on piano.

This is an enjoyable rock album in the most classic style of Deep Purple with a very nice recording/production where the sound can be described as 'wholesome'.

I am really enjoying this album It was a bargain bin discovery from the early ‘70s, which I picked up only because I knew Harvey Mandel had played with two of my favourites Canned Heat and John Mayall. Best known as a sideman – he later auditioned for the Rolling Stones on Mick Taylor’s departure this was Harvey’s first solo work, dating from 1968. The album is completely instrumental, the only voice to be heard is that of a wordless soprano singer on the title track. However, the stylistic diversity of the tunes and the variety of the backing tracks means that it is by no means repetitive.

The album as a whole is great late-night-listening, beautifully laid-back funky arrangements fronted by a bewildering array of restrained guitar tricks from Mandel, dazzling but never flashy or tasteless. The titles give the idea: “Lights Out”, “Nashville 1AM”, “Before Six”. “Cristo Redentor”.

HARVEY MANDEL Cristo Redentor (1968 first UK issue 10-track stereo LP.

Thanks Quad, I don't know this one and you've made it sound like its worth tracking down.

J.B. Lenoir - One Of These Mornings.

A vastly under appreciated blues artist, this album was recorded informally at his house, with Willie Dixon on "percussion".

Great - just bought his new album...

The Circle & The Blue Door by Purson

"Think Siouxsie and the Banshees, but without the punkiness. Think Curved Air, but without the violins. Think of some dreamy psychedelic soft rock with a 70s/80s feel to it; mixed with keyboards; acoustic and electric guitars, and some melotrons on top."

Magazine - Secondhand Daylight

I read something earlier about forty years of Wire. I wanted to pick up on the post punk vibe.

I didn't know that this was coming out, so it was a nice surprise. It's something of a return to 'proper' jazz. Great sound and a much more discreet cover, which is far more appropriate for the classy music.

An excellent debut album but their follow-up 'Desire's Magic Theatre'  is even better imo, and available on vinyl too! : )

I agree Debs, it was one of my favourite releases last year and is in the playlist and going  on next.

Van Morrison - Days Like This

Class, sheer class (in my very humble opinion of course - but he is).

Apparently VM can (could) be a difficult chap to work with. I have a customer in my pub who used to be VM's drummer and he was fired more than once. He wasn't the only one. Must be the artistic rock 'n' roll temperament I guess. Still think he is a class act though.
