What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Coldplay - "A Head Full Of Dreams" (2015)
Air - Moon Safari
How I would like to tell you that I'm ploughing a furrow as a taste maker here on the forum. Evidently, I'm a follower :-)

I saw that gig with John Cipollina at the Roundhouse. It was reported afterwards that one of the Man guitarists had to rerecord all the Cipollina guitar which was out of tune. Possibly sour grapes? Anyhow it put me off the record and I have still not heard it - should I get it?
Clive
Clive, everyone seems to think this was exaggerated at the time.
"Rumours that Micky Jones had to over-dub Cipollina’s guitar, as it was out of tune, before the album could be released, are greatly exaggerated. Only one track, "Bananas," had to have his playing removed/replaced, per Deke Leonard: "Everything ... which sounds like Cippolina is Cippolina"
I was listening to his debut Quicksilver Messanger album just a couple of days who and he is certainly a very accomplished guitarist.
Thanks, Tony - the Deke Leonard quote must be seen as definitive - I was surprised to read it afterwards as there didn't seem any problems at the gig. Cipollina's playing with Quicksilver was brilliant and I also have a few post-Quicksilver albums with him playing too, but they don't really match up. So would you recommend the Man album with him?
CliveYes, still a good album.
I'd second Tony's endorsement. We were there too (had to physically restrain the wife from mobbing Deke onstage!) and the album is a fair representation of the gig, though I don't think it matched up with my (admittedly sky-high) expectations as a huge QMS and Man fan.
The Esoteric re-issue has a couple of tracks Man recorded with Cipollina a year later, which are also very good, though they come from a whole double CD worth of a gig they did at his club the Keystone, Berkeley. This was a Man Official Bootleg (see here) and is definitely worth tracking down. I believe I got mine from either the Man site or Mickey Jones. Both sites now seem to be AWOL though.
Edit: Recently bought the 24/96 downloads of 1st QMS and Happy Trails from Qobuz - delighted with them.
Nicely floating trio jazz, his new one...
1972 - Vinyl - UK 3rd(6E 4E) pressing...
I wanted to listen to Five Years but it looks like I'm listening to the whole album.
I never really liked recordings on a forte piano. The sound of the forte piano did not appeal to me. However, this recording (and the playing of Ronald Brautigam) is beautiful.
From Qobuz (44.1 / 16)
Mark Knopfler. Sailing To Philadelphia. On HDCD from 2000. While unlikely to ever merit an accolade for cover art, this album is a musical gem.
1st session, first impression good, got some good reviews in music magazines as well

Beautiful, ethereal ,ambient neo classical style electronic music infused with instruments, in particular Budd's delicately played piano.
Wow - that's prized orange label you have there Sir! Cracking album too.
A playful album, I like it...
Four -LP box set from her shows of 2014. Am I only one who's not that impressed with this recording? It sounds a bit mushy to me, and slightly sterile. I have a couple of bootlegs of these shows which, while nowhere as slick as this, capture the atmosphere rather better....

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I must say that my expectations for the gig were probably unrealistic too - perhaps the main reason that I didn't get the album (although lack of disposable income at that time of my life was also a factor). I searched for the Berkeley CDs and discovered that, sadly, Mickey Jones died in 2010.

Swedish kosmische. LP and download due out soon on Bandcamp.
On cassette. This one came after they'd taken a direction towards shorter pop oriented tunes. However, there are still some beautiful melodies to be heard, not least in the title track, which is pure joy.

Their excellent debut album, to call it Americana would be to sell it short as it has melody, delta blues and rock undertones running through it. Tremendous
