What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
I've begun to expand my collection of Eddi Reader albums and just added this one. Good so far.
John Mayer's latest. Dodgy personality maybe, but that never stopped Frank Sinatra. SUPERB Album as ever, despite very suspect cover art.
This guy is THE real deal, the best pop artist of the past 10 years? ...Takes cover for incoming
flak
recommended to me by someone on the original Naim forum -- well before Hoopla. Now i realize that my system then didnt really do it justice...
enjoy...

I think they go all the way ..... ..... down to her toes.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the turntable on the album cover(yet) oops I just did
Nice to see the only download releases are 24/192 so should be (they are) top end SQ & not over/re sampled copies.
I found HDT (UK) had it for silly money plus a 15% discount. Its on sale for prices all over the place, HDTrack UK is £13 (£11 with -15%) HDTracks (USA) is $22, other UK www are £15 to 18+
Qobuz sublime only 9,99
Sorry to intrude on the thread, but can anyone please clue me what to do on how to highlight someone else's post in blue like you folks do ?

Listening to this Podcast, after seeing Two mesmerising concerts in Brighton & London this week. Interesting background to their 30 year existence.
Denis,
I didn't realise they were still going.
Where did they play in Brighton ?
St Lukes Church - http://www.stlukeschurchbrighton.webeden.co.uk/
They were fantastic, like no other band I've seen in all my years...
It looks like nice up personal venue.
Not 100% sure its the same place ? but i think Kate Walsh and Fink played there a few years ago.

Kevin, it happens automatically when you click on 'Take Action' when another box opens showing the original text highlighted and allowing your additional text to be distinctive.

The copy I ordered after seeing this has arrived, and a WAV copy is streaming from the Nas. A fne demonstration that fast playing and technique can be used sensitively and bring out the beauty of the music, especially if the pianist is a great musician. Sound quality higher than I expected, thanks Bert.

Good choice. I often ( probably too often) talk about 'goosebump' factor in music. Track 1 of this album ' What you do with what you've got' is always one long goosebump for me. A real favourite.

Didn't know that was out, either. Have just ordered one from the long river.
Something very disturbingly wrong with her legs in that picture ?
Can't see anything wrong with Ms Krall's legs myself.
Nothing wrong with them in that picture.
The one above is so wrong!!
Cast, Power And Outcome on CD.
As the album title suggests, this has a theme about the use (misuse!) of Power in the world today. A Mexican Prog group worth checking out.
A fine new album, lyrical oriented without becoming ECM....
The Trammps - The Definitive Collection.
Last one of the evening, so, ............ since we had Billy Ocean earlier, ................ "Hold Back the Night" seems a natural follow up.
Nighty night.
WAV CD rip. Lovely album, beautifully played as you'd expect from Townshend and Lane, both contribute songs and vocals, lovely album, some good rocking numbers, some beautiful ballads, 2 fine musicians having fun and delivering the goods.
Big Big Train, Grimspound on CD
Last one tonight. Now that my Pre-order of this has finally arrived from the river!! SQ is a bit Sh$t. Flat as a pancake.
First impressions quite good...
Prokofiev triple fest around these parts tonight. All sounding stunning on the new 500DR !
Symphony 3
Piano Concerto 3
Quartet #1

Listening now and it's damn good!

The track Nowhere to Run on Rough Mix, my previous listen. always makes me think of Death of a Clown. So I set out to listen to a Dave Davies live album on Tidal, but Tidal seems to be having an off evening, the NDX dropped connection almost immediately, I tried via the phone app Bluetoothed, that played 10s of the intro and dropped out. Doesn't seem to be my 'Net connection, I'm streaming a HD video on YouTube to check and it seems fine. Apologies to Tidal, the video froze as well. Speedtest tells me I have my normal upload speed of around 18Mb/s, but my download is running 800kbps to 1.2Mbps, time for a router reboot I think.
Anyway, the music, the Kinks, great songs, Dave's a great guitarist, catchy pop, English music hall eccentricity, some great ballads, including Death of a Clown and the glorious Days.
