First run of full album on Tidal - sounding good .

Listening now and it's damn good!

Yet another run for this - absolutely agree.  Only complaint is that at around 32 mins it's too short.  Just have to wait for vol 2.

A good album, just a small tick under his last album. Hope he doesn't mutate himself too much in the ECM house sound....

Ten Years After. Cricklewood Green. On original Deram vinyl from 1970.  A brilliant mix of blues inspired rock with some folksy infusions. Alvin Lee's tricky licks the icing on the cake.

Agreed, Joe. That's my favourite TYA album. The long version of Love Like A Man is a treat.

Graham Parker & The Rumour - Heat Treatment.

Great 80's pub rock, this album contains Graham's cover of "Hold Back the Night", which is very nearly as good as The Trammps original, and was an ever present staple of his live set.

Nostalgia rules!

An update on Verdi Requiem - Georg Solti on vinyl

Just cleaned the vinyl, and it sounds amazing. This really must be the 1812 of Requiems with its vocal and orchestral fireworks. Unlike many works every part has a role to play from the individual instruments to the orchestra to the choir to the soloists. The way Solti/Verdi weaves all the parts together is out of the top draw. If you have a really good HiFi system even if you don't think requiems are your cup of tea, this recording will sound absolutely spectacular and take you on an emotional roller coaster. I have heard other recordings and not been touched to anything like the extent that this has touched me.

It and a collection of vinyl of more or less every opera ever written were enjoyed at the University of Ibadan by my late cousin where he lectured until 1995. I hope soon to have back his Loricraft restored Thorens TD124 Mk 2 with iron base as opposed to alloy remounted on one of their Garrard plinths. He then went on to buy CDs of his favourite operas etc, totalling 600 CDs.

The earlier post included the Classics Today review. Please give your views if you have other recordings.

The Magpie Salute - The Magpie Salute.

New band containing former Black Crowes members Rich Robinson, Marc Ford and Sven Pipien.

Great rock album, and, very obviously, one for all Crowes fans.

A breakthrough performance in the history of blues when a jazz audience embraced & applauded this earthy Chicago sound to the fullest & for many in the crowd their first exposure to the music live. Muddy is backed by Otis Spann, James Cotton & guitarist Pat Hare, ripping through some incredible takes of I Got My Brand On You & Got My Mojo Working.

MUDDY WATERS At Newport (1973 UK stereo issue of the classic 1961 9-track LP.
