Their excellent debut album, to call it Americana would be to sell it short as it has melody, delta blues and rock undertones running through it. Tremendous
Giving this a run on Tidal now Stevee - sounds really good. Good shout.
'Rip Rig & Panic' Roland Kirk. Superb rhythm section - released on cd with 'Now Please Don't You Cry, Beautiful Edith'.
First class recording too.
G
james mcmurtry - too long in the wasteland. Debut solo album from 1989. Tidal
For some reason, I always find myself listening to Nocturnes (Chopin, Faure, Fields) in the mornings. Probably something to do with the fact that when the sun goes down jazz kicks-in around here. So, better in the morning than never. I couldn't find a track by Jalbert so here is a Nocturne by another David:

My cold has indeed got worse and is now full-blown man flu and I am on antibiotics. So feeling a bit sorry for myself I wanted to listen to something not too loud. All three of these superb albums have hit the spot this afternoon. Now I am not feeling so sorry for myself. The power of good music!
Great selection there Nigel. Hope you're over the man flu soon
Vinyl 1989 - Guy Barker (t), Nigel Hitchcock (s) , Jason Rebello (p), Chris Laurence (b), Clark Tracey (d), Frank Ricotti (vib)
Lovely version of "It never entered my mind"
Not listened to it for years - sounds much better through my "new" speakers !!!
Exploring some more long time not played albums...

Cheers, James. My wife simply doesn't realise how serious man flu can be, but us chaps know.

Just about to try this one on for size after recommendations from Bert and Simon.
Live version of "You and Your Friend" is outstanding.
Again, Gerry Mulligan: What Is There To Say
I definitely cannot say why it took me so long to acquire this masterpiece of coolness performed by the piano-less quartet.
