Do you ever buy a new album, only to find that you simply can't stop playing it?
So, no apologies for posting this one again ................. simply stunning!
Dave, this is a veritable belter. I'll just have to go to the big river I guess.
This one had passed me by, many thanks for posting
A fun and important release from Diana Damrau, dedicated to arias from ten of Giacomo Meyerbeer's operas. Meyerbeer was one of the most important opera composers in the 19th century, and seen as the big man behind the Grand Opéra, notably with Les Huguenots. He's not often heard anymore, but Damrau puts in a good case for him, here. This may well be her best recording so far.
Cheers
EJ

I grew up listening to Pictures (for orchestra) as my dad played it on his ReVox A77 (he wrote "Pictures" in grease pencil on the 10" reel). Later in life I learned the story behind the composition and it's one of my favorites. Thanks for the reminder of something I like so much.

Hugely talented girl reminds me a little of Sophie B Hawkins.
I am not very familiar with Telemann's music. I have only this 'Best of' CD. It's nice music in the Baroque style.
