2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Baroque music played on two guitars. Very nice.
Gilles Peterson in Brazil - the Da Hora disc
What a brilliant start to the day.
Imelda May: "Life, Love, Flesh Blood" (on Tidal)
I must admit to not having known much (or even anything) about Imelda May up until seeing a clip of her and her band performing at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
I decided to check her out on Tidal, and this album and Imelda May herself are simply stunning. Although I have access to it on Tidal, I will almost certainly be buying the hi-res version of the album from Qobus.
on Sony Vivarte...
Hadouk Trio - Utopies
This is a recording with a great sound quality. This is not your standard jazz trio. It's a mixture of jazz and world music (it's available on Tidal).
From the box set, ripped to NS01, whilst procrastinating over cutting the grass after being away for a couple of weeks on holiday.
On CD:-
10cc - How Dare You!
Still one of my favourite and most listened to records
Really good playin' and well recorded. Featuring Booker Little, Jaki Byard, Ron Carter and the great Roy Haynes! Produced by RVG.
Vinyl
Judy Nylon, Pal Judy. Why? Because I fancied listenig to a cassette, and 'cause it's a brilliant album!
On vinyl and sounding sublime
Saw Anais last night in Portland. Perhaps some(one) will find this of interest.
Paul Weller - A Kind Revolution, new lp first listen and very impressed
Sometimes I just need to be soothed..............

On original vinyl
Why? it's Friday night and I'm kicking back after a week of work, an excellent veggie spag bol and some red wine.
