William Bell - This Is Where I Live. (William wrote the well known "Born Under A Bad Sign").
Do you ever buy a new album, only to find that you simply can't stop playing it?
So, no apologies for posting this one again ................. simply stunning!
Dave, this is a veritable belter. I'll just have to go to the big river I guess.
It's a cracker, Nigel, and we need to spread the word ............ imagine missing out on something as good as this!
Just an update, Nigel, the album dropped through the letterbox this morning, ripped, and playing now ......... 's brilliant!
I bought this four-CD box set a few weeks ago and I've just got round to listening to it - diving into Disc One.
Some great music on here, and in decent SQ too. These Real Gone Music sets are insanely good value for money. This Stax one cost under £7!

Percy and Ali', who'd have thought it forty five years ago?
An artist I can highly recommend.
I have all her albums and CRS in Holland recently decided to issue the above comp which is a wonderful overview of her music.
Well worth buying
Back to Howe, in preparation for tonight's show. On vinyl:

Because I'm just in the mood for this.
"Peyroux, under the producing guide of Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, a.o) steers us through a world of beautiful songs that bring instant warmth. Listen, and we hope that you agree that Peyroux has earned the status as this years great discovery and by the end of 2005, you would have gladly introduced many friends to this immaculate, charming & critically acclaimed album."
"When Madeleine Peyroux's debut, Dreamland, was released in 1996, its success threw her for a loop. She's taken eight years to create this follow-up, and, at age 30, she brings a confidence and resilience to this dozen-song set. She's able to move seamlessly between songs by writers as diverse as Elliott Smith and W.C. Handy, whose title track was popularized by Bessie Smith. Though American-born, Peyroux absorbed the language and culture of France growing up in Paris with her French-teacher mother. On her debut, she covered Edith Piaf, and this time out she wraps herself around "J'ai Deux Amours," which Josephine Baker sang to the Allied troops during World War II. --David Greenberger"
