What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Jazz Record Requests on BBC Radio 3 FM. Always worth a listen if I'm in on a Saturday afternoon.
Early 1980s non-barcoded US vinyl pressing. Requested by a houseguest, and very good it is to hear it again too.

Another guest request. This is the EMI 100 version, issued in 1997 for the now-defunct company's centenary. It's definitely one of the very best vinyl versions out there.

Primal Scream - Screamadelica.
Why?
'Cos the sun's decided to absent itself from overcast North Yorks, and this album always brings a grin to my face ........ accompanied by
some terrible off key singing at full pelt ............. and there's only me here at the mo', so who cares! ![]()
Chris Jones - Roadhouses and Automobiles

Listening to this serves to remind me what a superb acoustic guitarist Chris Jones was. He could hold a choon too.
listening to the '78 recordings of the Orchestral Suites...wonderful SQ and performance!

The album's planned title was Africa Talks to You, but it was retitled in response to Marvin Gaye's album What's Going On (1971), released five months before

Anais Mitchell & Jefferson Hamer - "Child Ballads" (2013)
I ordered this after seeing Jeff's post, ripped and on its second spin, it's lovely, foot tapping to Patrick Spens from two of my weekend guests.
Cheers Jeff.
The red hot Ray Brown trio.
Another excellent recording of the Ray Brown trio with Gene Harris on piano (and Mickey Roker on drums).
This really is my favorite Ray Brown trio album. For a couple of reasons:
1) Gene Harris. He always plays very well, but on this recording he plays exceptionally wel and is IMO the star of this live recording (the others certainly also play well). His solo on ' That's All' (starting a around the 4 minute mark) is a very good example.
2) The tunes they play during this recording. Tunes like 'Have you met Miss Jones', 'Love me Tender' and 'How could you do a thing like this to me' don't often appear on piano jazz trio recordings. They work out very well. When I saw 'Love me tender' on the track list I though 'How are they going to keep this interesting'. But they succeed. It start out as a ballad (with very nice playing from Ray Brown) and after about two minutes they pick up the pace and Gene Harris starts playing his bluesy / funky lines.
If you are a Gene Harris fan, I can highly recommend this one. I put in my top three of favorite Gene Harris albums.
Also the sound quality of the live recording is very good.

I have this one as well and it is indeed wonderful.
Jeroen.
On a 1970 RCA Camden vinyl LP. Fancied a bit of colourful (some might say lurid) soundtrack music before heading off to a late night at the Tate:

Mint vinyl which I found a couple of years back in a Bath market. I think I paid either 99p or, at most, £1.99. A really fine album of jazz trio playing.

Continuing with some more funky music.

My least played album by the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Consequently I don't really know it, but as its playing I do realise that I recognise some sequences and chord progressions.

This is a very nice modern jazz album. On the album several jazz style's can be heard, from typical modern jazz to latin bop, dixieland and bigband.
If you liked this, I hope you were listening to Jazz Line-Up just now on BBC Radio 3.

Blind Faith
(1969)
Ripped from a nice sounding 1986 Polydor (U.S.) CD.

I've just read this again and realise that I missed the apostrophe in "it's" and after contributing some of my favourite grammatical blunders on the thread entitled 'GOTTEN', I realise I should correct it. However, it appears that I'm too late to edit it. Forum members, please accept my apology!
