2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;

Because there has been a lot written about the Dead lately on the forum and I just had to scratch the itch, its been a while!
Joe Cocker - Sheffield Steel. Streamed CD rip. One of those albums I'd just never got around to buying or even hearing, but remember at the time being impressed by the cover painting, only to later discover at college it was done by the superb David Oxtoby. Three tracks in and loving it so far - the underpinning rythm of Sly & Robbie just marries so well with that voice of Mr. Cocker. Wish I'd bought it years ago.
I'm just right in the mood for this classic!

Bjorn Riis, Forever Comes To An End on CD.
My signed copy arrived today and My Oh My this is good, More up-tempo than Lullabies, I am really liking this.
Peter Gabriel - Security. Superb, simple as that. The earlier solo albums seem to have a tremendous sense of boundless creativity about them which still remains infectious and draws me in even all these years later.
The wonderful Art Pepper.

I'm one of those who are not bothered by Marillion with or after Fish, it's nice to have this one (with Fish) back in the collection.

I really enjoyed it too Simon, good stuff and no dreaded second album issues here.
A+
Heard a nice version of the Cohen song on this one today at the Naim stand...
Prompted by the earlier discussion on here about Peter G v Phil C and what generation of Genesis was best. I think the band were perhaps at there most creative with this album.

Hi Steve, This is one of my all time favorite albums, enjoy.
A favorite Carter:
For this quartet set, veteran bassist Ron Carter is joined by pianist Stephen Scott, drummer Lewis Nash, and percussionist Steve Kroon. As is usual on Carter's records, he is the main soloist on many of the songs though Scott also has plenty of good spots. Recorded originally for the Japanese market, this set features the quartet jamming on four standards and three melodic Carter pieces, with all of the musicians playing quite well. Highlights include "You and the Night and the Music," "Blues for D.P.," and "Mr. Bow-Tie."(AllMusic)
Rediscovered thanks to my Core purchase this week , I can't believe I let this sit in the attic for the last few years ....
A Fantastic Album !!!
Again organ jazz. But this time by an organ player who is still alive: Joey DeFrancesco.
After playing TLLDOB I've got a bit a taste for more Peter Gabriel so I thought I'd play what I regard as his best solo album.
Sounding absolutely fabulous on CD.
Have a nice vinyl copy too... but so tired after a long cycle ride -
i've no strength left to wind up the gramophone : )
Debs
Laura Veirs - July Flame
So fresh, so clean, so pure.

caught this lady on Jools Holland a couple of weeks back.....I really like the album; something heartfelt after her breakup
