What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
David Bowie: Black Star. FLAC Download converted for iPhone. Needed to hear something brilliant while undertaking the soul destroying thankless task that is stripping forty year old wood chip wallpaper (sobs uncontrollably). Edit: Listening via iPhone & Shure SE215 ear phones (used mainly for running), which despite their modest cost are actually ok.
Intelligent noise and expensive deck shoe gazing again. Still very good.

S & M - Metallica
My favourite Metallica album (heresy to some), this is a live album with the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen who's idea and concept the whole thing was. CD 1 of 2 for now after having given 'City a damned good thrashing earlier.

One for you to check out Edward (TED_P), Fish was the Singer/Songwriter for the first 4 Marillion albums. This has wonderful lyrics and the songs are delivered with raw emotion. Also see Forgotten Sons, Misplaced Childhood and Clutching At Straws. ATB, Simon.
Do you mean "Script for a Jester's Tear"?
I concur with your recommendations, BTW, all great albums!
For me, Fish and Mariliion are synonymous - I've only heard one post-Fish album, but given how many there have been with Hogarth, I suppose, to some, he is Marillion's vocalist?! Perhaps it's time for me to give 'modern' Marillion another go?
Try Marbles and the latest Album F.E.A.R, both good in their own right. They may make you give others a go.
O’Brother
Endless Light, Tidal. Some really good Rock music.
Destroyer - "Poison Season" A new discovery on CD in 2016, which also led me on to the work of Canadian band The New Pornographers.

Not my favourite Metallica album, but definitely up there. The way the Band and Orchestra complement each other, rather than go into battle is awesome.
Michael Stanley - "In A Very Short Time" (2016)
On Vinyl
Adele 25
How about this from my old vinyl collection? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hQ3BWgIxjJM

Great side project and very similar to "Lodger". Got to give it a spin one of these days. Nice one!
Flo Morrissey & Matthew E. White. Gentlewoman, Ruby Man. Tidal. New release, eclectic covers album with the usual high quality spacebomb feel & production.

John Josephus Hicks, Jr. (1941 – 2006) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He was leader for more than 30 recordings and played as a sideman on more than 300. This is a very fine 1997 studio session for Venus.
