2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Exploring some more of Jacques Loussier. This one is also quiet good.

After a late afternoon to forget in a hurry I wasn't sure whether to sooth it or blast it with music and have settled for something in between, ripped from a sweet sounding original 1990 Warner Bros. CD.

great choice, I'm a big fan of DCD & Lisa Gerrard so good to see this posted. Just checking the date, 30years....really?!?
Paul,
That ensemble list of Serpent's Egg above i copied from Wiki - they seem to have left out the percussionist (?)
i'm a big fan of DCD but tbh i only got to know about them a few years ago, and now have quite a marvellous collection of their albums on CD and vinyl.
If i'm correct in saying this; i believe back in the 80s and 90s their music was considered a bit odd ball for normal CD music shops and usually sold in places like those new age and bong shops that appeared on the High Streets back along, plus they tended to be full price very expensive in those days too, and before the realm of downloads and Spotify et al - the Dead Can Dance went without the recognition they deserved.

OK after a couple of cold ones the world is starting to look better so, something commercial and 'punchy' from the Texicans.
David Gilmour, On An Island, CD.
This is the second time I have purchased this Album. The first time was on the day it came out. I took it home and played it, then put it on a shelf and eventually gave it away. I just did not "get it".
Having seen his live performance in Gdansk on Sky Arts at the Weekend and thoroughly enjoying that show, I thought I'd try again. I am very glad I have, it is a mile from how I remember it.

Agreed its a lovely album and you've prompted me to stick it into the playlist.
The Dame's final recordings, No Plan, on one-sided etched vinyl. The version of "Lazarus" here is, I think better than the one on Blackstar.

Yep, I agree and there is something special about this EP that I can't quite define...

Live in Germany features ZZ Top's 1980 performance at the Grugahalle in Essen for the German TV series Rockpalast , not up to their usual SQ but it's always good to hear them live.

I think anyone listening to their music might find it difficult to define which decade it might have been recorded so having this as a relatively recent discovery is great. Their music has a really great mix of influences. I came across DCD thru a trawl of 4AD via This Mortal Coil whose Song to the Siren for me sends shivers. Glad that you are enjoying & collecting and also agree on their general lack of recognition.

One of those 'just superb' albums that most haven't heard of. If you like Tool then this Maynard side project, IMO builds upon their music and exceeds what they have done to date.
This is a new acquisition, and it's very good. I have her 'Birdwatching' album with Gianluigi Trovesi and am not that keen on it, so this was something of a gamble.
