Progressive, psychedelic stoner rock with wonderful heavy riffs that carry the music forward like an irresistible  tidal flow. The Berlin based Samsara Blues Experiment certainly hit a sweet spot in this genre.

Funnily enough Steve I am currently listening to their latest album and have been a fan since I first picked up a copy of the web only release in 2008. Haven't palyed them in years though

Nice to know someone else around here enjoys their music Ewen. I only discovered them three or four years ago when I got active on Bandcamp, they are a good band and have made a number of really enjoyable albums. I don't have their latest "One With The Universe" what do you make of it, up to their usual standards?

Billie Marten - Writing Of Blues And Yellows

Moody, mellow, mellifluous, mesmerising.

Stockfisch Records label - Closer to the music, vol. 1, on CD. The sound is impressive.

The opening is a favourite song of mine - Allan Taylor, Beat hotel

Allman Brothers Band  -  "Beginnings"  (1997)  Their first two albums released on a single cd.

IMHO I think it is their best yet

Sergey Schepkin - Bach, the six Partitas (via Tidal).

Based upon a tip from Ragman.

Sergey Schepkin plays the partitas at a higher pace then others (e.g. Hewitt, Schiff). With some pieces I found that refreshing (e.g. the Prelude and Allemande of Partita 1). And with some pieces I found it to fast, as if he was rushing it (e.g. the Corrente and Sarabande of Partita 1). Sergey does play the ornaments (sometimes) differently then others, which is a nice change.

Overall I found this a good performance but a bit to fast for my taste.

Also based on Ragman's tip, playing this now in Tidal, a very musically communicative performance which I'm enjoying very much, like Jeroen I'm finding the tempi a bit too fast for my taste, so it doesn't dethrone the Hewitt performance for me, but much appreciated, thanks for the tip.

I hope you don't mind me joining you, Steve.  Just fancy listening to "I Talk To The Wind" with  that wonderful, hypnotic  flute solo  by Ian.

Great memories...

Digging through some old favourites. This album still sounds fantastic, especially the title track.

Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries

.....next up......

Wander This World - Jonny Lang

I was fortunate to see Jonny live during his early years. Gifted with an incredible skills to sing and play the blues from a very young age. At 15, in 1997 his blues album, "Lie to Me," went platinum and hit No. 1 on Billboard's New Artist chart. At 17 his album, "Wander This World," earned a Grammy nomination. He will be touring US this summer and Europe in the fall.

John Moreland - Big Bad Luv

This is pretty good.

First spin on Tidal - not bad at all !  Good call Nigel.  Played all the way through which is unusual for me - highly recommended.  I'll admit to initially being drawn to it by the cover art (shallow person that I am)
