The Bach Partitas
Besides Hewitt, I also like to listen to Perahia, Fray and Levit...
Thanks Bert, I have the Perahia, I'll look out for the other 2.
A short treat for Lucinda Williams fans.
1st listen to the Landover live recording from the Songs from the Wood box set, not totally convinced by Ian's between song asides, but musically they're very tight and the mixes are very good. Good extra to the excellent studio remix.
Kari Rueslatten - "Other People's Stories" (2008)
keep coming back & listening to these after recommendations here (Steve once more); the equivalent of a jolt of caffeine before bedtime, not a good thing.....headphones on at this time of the evening.
.....after Jonny Lang, ran out and did a couple of errands. Next up ...... something light
Another 50 year year anniversary, first released in November 1967. I have always enjoyed their work......
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue
Van Morrison - Moondance
It's that time of night.

A little pick me up before dinner.
.....some time for Tori Amos......
Under the Pink......
Fink-Wheels Turn Beneath My Feet
this band is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Thanks again to this thread.
Alice Coltrane. World Spirituality Classics 1.
Quote from " The Quietus" " The secular mind may encounter potential pitfalls and warning signs on approaching this music. Do we view it as sheer joyous sound, the impact of which will hit on a purely visceral level right in the gut, or do we try to make some leap of faith and seek to believe in the devotional ecstasy that courses through this astonishing album like lifeblood ? "
......after dinner with Mary Chapin Carpenter
Walking to the 'Rhythm of the Blues' ...... just love Mary's voice.

Another morning and another start with the heavy, psychedelic, bluesy stoner rock of The Samsara Blues Experiment. They are not available on Tidal but you can try their albums in full on Bandcamp here
Samsara Blues Experiement Live at Rockpalast.
I see an album of theirs I don't have Steve on Bandcamp, the Rarities set.

Ewen, I don't have Rarities either, its EP length about 20 minutes I'll pick it up later today. Where did you get Live at Rockplast ? Do you have their early USA Tour 2009 EP well described as:

This one is never far from my ears whether I'm actually playing it or just running it through my mind.
I cleaned my original vinyl copy yesterday, but it still sounds noisy in the quiet passages on side two. Thankfully I also have the HDCD version!
Started this morning with
but now on to this
Jeroen20 posted:Ray Bryant - Somewhere in France.
This is a recording of a live solo performance by Ray Bryant on piano. This is the only CD I have of Ray Bryant. Apart from this CD I don't know much about Ray Bryant.
Any suggestion about 'must have' Ray Bryant recordings are welcome.
From allmusic.com:
Ray Bryant provided the master tape for this live solo piano CD from a personal archive of over 100 cassettes given to him by various soundboard technicians working his concerts over the years. Bryantwas unable to identify the tape more specifically than being recorded "Somewhere in France" during 1993; hence the CD's title. The play list and the arrangements overlap somewhat with Bryant's Alone at Montreux date, though the pianist's first-rate performance and the surprisingly excellent sound from Somewhere in France's humble cassette source make this worth acquiring along with his earlier solo concert CD. Highlights include a boogie-woogie version of "Take the 'A' Train," a choppy delightful "Con Alma," "Jungletown Jubilee" (an obscure tune with obvious gospel roots), a swinging take of John Lewis' "Django," and a savory take of the slow blues "After Hours."
I've always liked Through The Years vol 1.
On vinyl (Music on Vinyl) - brilliant power and emotion. IMV, ranks after SS and CM as his 3rd best album (although obviously as live it's a compilation).
Another case where the Tranquillity digs out a lot more enjoyment
Joe Cocker - Civilised Man.
Joining in with the fun, this dropped through the letterbox 10 minutes ago, ripped and now playing ......... great album.
For a few pence over on The Rainforest.
Now exploring Joe Jackson - on original vinyl from ?? (I forget).
Dave - if you haven't yet, suggest get JJ's Body and Soul album - brilliant (IMV). And then go exploring the likes of Jumpin' Jive. Massive fun.

"The overall attitude and vibe of this well-engineered demo recording sounds as if Jimi Hendrix & The Band of Gypsys attended a Maharishi Mahesh Yogi meditation ceremony and decided to plug in and perform, while a combination of Al Cisneros of Sleep and Joey Ramone of the Ramones took turns belting out vocals, culminating in an onslaught of psychedelic rock bliss. At the end of the day, however, the artists creating such "blast from the past" vibrations are a young trio eager to push music back to its humble, yet beautiful and uncompromising beginnings, in which they have not re-created, but moulded something new and vibrant from and into their own world in a fastidious manner." - (Bad Acid)
Yep I have the US tour set you mentioned.
I have a rip of a 12" entitled Center of the Sun.
Can't remember where I got the Rockpalast set
Sideshow - Admit One.
Continuing with my Fink odyssey, Fin Greenhall performs here as Sideshow and creates a spacy, dubwise variety of choons.
Super!
