Avant-garde yet very listenable (and soothing)
An early Lloyd from 1989 with Bo Bo Stenson on the piano:
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Lorenzo Gatto (violin | Julien Libeer (piano)
Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major, Op. 47 'Kreutzer'
Violin Sonata No. 4 in A minor, Op. 23
Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major, Op. 2
They look much too relaxed and hardly serious enough betwixt the great one. Deceptive as this is, this recording is pretty good but I doubt it would cause LvB to crack a smile which is a good thing. This is serious stuff, after all.
Sometimes you just like to go back to basics...
This evening some more Dave Koz......
.....off the beaten path
....now for some Joni Mitchell
Both Sides Now......
From the album insert: "Joni came up with the idea of having the record trace the arc of a modern romantic relationship. ..... The album would be a programmatic suite documenting a relationship from initial flirtation through optimistic consummation, metamorphosing into disillusionment, ironic despair, and finally resolving in the philosophical overview of acceptance and the possibility of the cycle repeating itself."
A wonderful journey.....

City features a handful of seasoned musicians including McCallum on guitars, Robin Mullarkey, bass (ESKA, Roisin Murphy), Sean Foran (Trichotomy), Rhodes and Richard Spaven (Flying Lotus, José James) drums, synths and electronics while Violinist Emma Sweeney guests on one track."
......and before heading off to bed......
Diana Krall - Love Scenes
..... mellow and sweet ...... sweet dreams......

Really liked it Ewen, right up there with all their very good stuff, I'm only sorry that I missed the release date! Mind you, its taken them nearly 4 years and a line-up change to get it out but well worth the wait.

Some old school soul but a modern recording, originally posted by Dave Marshall IIRC. Loving it. Perfect for a sunny afternoon.
Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey.
A classic roots reggae album from Winston Rodney, ................... also contains a second CD, the dub version of the album.
If you're only going to have a few reggae albums in your collection, then this has to be one of them.
