Vinyl. Couldn't find the cover of this compilation on the 'Net, so took a quick photo. I bought this, I think, as a student at the beginning of the '80s, looking at the £6.49 for a double album, makes you realise how cheap good recordings are now. The Airplane were a great band, I'll play the double album and that'll be it for the night.

Kandace Springs - Soul Eyes

This is simply wonderful. Instant de-stresser. KS is such a talent.

Oh, and thanks to Tony who first pointed this abum out. Nice one.

Absolutely agree. I've lost count of the number of times I've played this album since buying it on the basis of other on here recommending it.

OK Guys, you talked me into it. Ordered (without listening - yes, ok, I'm mad) from the rainforest.

WW, I don't think you will be disappointed but would be interested to hear your thoughts on it having bought it blind.

Tom Petty - "Wildflowers"

The first concert that my daughter and two nephews attended was Tom Petty at the Dallas Starplex Pavillion back in the 1994. A big night for the kids and a great memory for myself.

A + 3 | WAV

(1973 | 1994 )

All of the tracks were recorded on tour during 1972 and released as a triple album. This one was ripped from a CD double album remastered by Joe Gastwirt in 1994.

Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.

A little bit of soul in the morning. Don't leave me this way is one of my favorite pop songs. For a long time I thought that the Communards version was the original. A few years ago I discover that the original version is by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. And that version is even better!

Pollini's Chopin remains about precision, with limited fluctuations to the basic tempo, a steady left hand and a calculated, deliberate right,  and virtually no rubato. He is nowadays letting some freedom creeping into his playing yet even after weeks of listening to try and 'get it', I find all the performance here sound somewhat samey and unvaried. Hate to say this - as an admirer - but I find this to be a somewhat dull record.

On vinyl. Thankfully the black stuff is way more dynamic than the CD:

Funny how my music tastes have changed over the years. I'm sure the BPM's will increase later, but really enjoying this.
