What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIII)

2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
From one fastidious French composer whose musical virtues include elegance, wit, precision and an exquisite eye for detail (Couperin), to another (Ravel).
This 1970s Philips LP was one of the firsrt classical albums I ever owned. Haitink and the CBOA's rich, colour-drenched reading of the wonderful "Rhapsodie Espagnole" is my favourite version of one of my favourite classical pieces.
Vynil album - Late Night Guitar
I am loving this album but understand that 'Jolly Roger' is not everyones cup of tea...
Chris Hillman - Slippin' away
From Amazon:
Chris Hillman has a long history in the world of rock and country music. He was one of the founding members of The Byrds. He Joined The Flying Burrito Brothers, after that he formed The Souther, Hillman and Furay Band. He released two solo albums on Asylum Records in 1976 and 1977. Slippin' Away was originally released in 1976 and rose to #152 on the Billboard charts.
Another listen on vinyl. It is really growing on me. Definitely one of his two best solo works (along with ATD). Splendid lyrically.
Level 42 - Forever now
not normally my genre and a bit mainstream but I find the songs & melodies addictive; a remarkable album with strong content from first to last....via A+
...... first up this Sunday Morning
Glen Frey - Strange Weather
This album got panned when released but I really like it a lot.
Great voice and beat, has gotten the feet tapping this morning.....
On CD. Why the hell not? Evewryone could do with a bit of the Dead in their lives, everyday.

Great album, Kev.
Still can't quite get used to that SJ avatar.

Yep! I'm one of those who cannot stomach his stuff. But, whatever turns people on, I suppose! Enjoy it, Graham.
Harry Manx - Wise and Otherwise
....Diana Krall - The Girl In The Other Room
Two very difffernt, but wonderful artists doing what they do best.
Samantha James - Subconscious
Don't think about it, BUY THIS...NOW. You won't be disappointed.
Arto Tuncboyaci - Virgin Land. First try, very different...
Because it's in the news lately........and because it's brilliant, of course.
next up .......
..... first time listening to this CD, love her work, wonderful voice and orchestration of the songs that she performs.
WAV CD Rip. Danny Schmidt's debut album, recorded live at a coffee house, excellent lyrics and tunes, sensitively played by Danny and some friends, wonderful music making. 1st listen after picking the CD up 2nd hand along with a bunch of vinyl at the Muse cafe/record shop in Hebden Bridge yesterday.

The Weepies - "Sirens" (2015)
I occasionally flick through these pages and randomly pick a few albums to check out on Tidal. I nearly passed over this one but Jeff has suggested some great albums in the past so I thought I would give it a go.
I really like it. No fireworks, it doesn't assault the senses, but it is a lovely and engaging listen. Not the sort of thing that I would normally listen to but it just drew me in. That is the great thing with The Music Room and Tidal - they broaden your horizons and you get to hear things you never previously considered.
Nice one Jeff.

Very sad. All the best to you from the NigelB household. Influenced by your brother as you were, you have much wonderful music to remember him by.

May you and your family find strength in is time, and may music help you in his memory.
I love this album. Randy Newman is a bit of a genius, and this album, with just him at the piano, has very different versions than the AOR originals.
