2017 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread can be found here;
Time for some unadulterated, pure blues.
2015 - Recorded live in 1976.
On original vinyl
Why? I fancied a bit of lighter reggae rather than In Dub version
steve
Heads of state - Four in one.
Good jazz in the bebop style.
Had a great afternoon in the pool and at the side of the pool, and had a good time listening to some great music...
Starting with one of my favorites which I also use to compare after an upgrade...
Listen to Barry Harris ... Solo Piano. 1961. CD-rip
Portico - Live from the Live/ Remix double album.
Sometimes you just want to feel the energy.
If you are an Elmore fan then this is the one to buy for sq. Great sound.
Original vinyl
Why? Keep on skankin' (Note to self - Get more reggae)

Simple Minds - New Gold Dream
24/96 Flac
stunning
Masterpiece.
Nah, this pairing is their masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. Original UK vinyl pressings (bought on the day of release):
The fact that you own a first day post vinyl is probably blurring your judgment. Excellent album nonetheless but I still give the edge to NGD. The fact that that album evokes a rather special period in my life may be affecting my judgment as well.
Sometimes it's more about the memory than the actual music.

Still R3 here.
Bloody hell! No satisfying some people. I wiill work on this throughout the day, and hopefully I can come up with a solution that suits all parties. You know I only want to please you all...
Sorry, but I am a lone voice who liked the Sid avatar. Not pretty but it made me chuckle. BTW I had a chopper like Sid's. I was one of the first kids to get one and all the girls loved it. Oooh…errr…missus.
Nigel - fear not! As soon as Ian, Tony and Chris are looking the other way, Sid will return. On his Chopper.
I'll take almost anything as long as it's not mumsy, like the existing ;-)
Bee Gees, One Night Only WAV CD Rip.
A delightful Live album with nice SQ.
1977 Japanese vinyl reissue of the 1963 original album.
Timeless...
Returning - David Friesen & Glen Moor
Released May 02, 2008 on the Burnside Distribution label. Personnel: David Friesen (acoustic bass), Glen Moore (acoustic bass, piano)
Dave Grusin has created some sophisticated jazz records. This is one of them and an interesting one, the Westside Story is still for me the best Dave Grusin album....
OfeliaDorme, Secret Fires.
Imagine Portishead meet London Grammar and you get the picture (in my head anyway).
After that I switched to a recent discovery of mine. A haunting album, which gives a flavor of Damien Rice and the high notes of Jimmy Summerville......
A record recommended album....
