Very good Alpine from Zinman/Zurich...plenty of competition but I do enjoy this set

Strauss: Eine Alpensinfonie [An Alpine Symphony) / Festliches Praludium (Festive Prelude) ~ Zinman

Live recordings of Schubert sonatas from Brendel, he makes them compelling and beautiful. I think I'll have to listen to the second disc after this, for the incredible playing of the Rondo in D959.

Started the evening with this album. For those who love her because of her trio work...., this is different...., not bad but different..

Short EP - typical nice music of her....

Bought these 'on spec' - so glad I did. The sound has been transformed. All Free fans owe it to themselves to get hold of these. Only £40 for all 7 of their albums. Bargain!

Tim, they released 6 studio albums afaik. Is the 7th one of the  two live albums?

So I switched to a good jazz album, not exploring the edges, but just enjoyable...

A+  Tidal.   Not bad at all supermodel's 1st album.

That album cover looks awfully familiar.

I did play the 2nd disc of the Brendel Schubert, the Rondo swirls wonderfully. Complete change of style for the last album before bed, Neil Young's After the Goldrush. Does rock get much better than this? Great songs, great band, great interpretations.

The 6 studio albums + Free Live! I don't count the 2006 BBC recordings (dreadful recording quality in any case).

Been listening to my new Vinyl of Kiri Te Kanawa - Strauss - Last Four Songs and Ime Abendrot hit me hard and the tears came, wow.  Looked up the lyrics and then listened to Renee Fleming on YouTube...crocodile tears.

We made through strife and wonder
Our journey hand in hand;
From wandering let us rest now
In this peaceful land.
Round us the valleys falling,
The sky withdrawing light;
Two larks alone are calling,
And dreaming from the height.
Stand here and watch them flutter;
Soon will be time to sleep --
So may we never falter
Alone in this great deep.
O wider, still more peaceful!
So deep on evening’s breath.
How we are tired from roaming!
-- Can this even be death?
